The largest healthcare system in Michigan is excited to welcome a board-certified Neurovascular Section Chief to their well-managed and growing academic program in Grand Rapids, MI. The Neurovascular Section Chief will join the team at their flagship hospital. This Joint Commission certified Comprehensive Stroke Center in Grand Rapids is quite busy with an annual Stroke Volume of 1500+ cases, intravenous thrombolysis and Thrombectomy procedures both over 150+ annually.

  • Spoke and hub model with the main certified comprehensive stroke center and 8 regional primary stroke centers
  • 6 fellowship trained vascular neurologists
  • 40+ neurologists and 10 neurosurgeons employed with 3 endovascular neurosurgeons
  • 1000-bed Flagship hospital
  • Level 1 trauma center
  • On-site neurology residency and fellowships (vascular and epilepsy)
  • Strong Research ties with nearby research institute

Section Chief, Vascular Neurology Highlights:

  • Main campus location
  • Certified comprehensive stroke center
  • 100% stroke volume
  • Provides strategic leadership to a team of 6 attending vascular neurologists and a robust support system to include very experienced, dedicated stroke APP's
  • Collaborates on policies and procedures to continually improve medical practice and continuity of and quality patient care,
  • 4 stroke service lines in weekly rotation: clinic (3 days, 8am – 5pm, + APP support), primary/admission, consult and telestroke
  • Shift model based scheduling, 182-day shifts, 40 night calls
  • Collaborate across all divisions while working closely with the inpatient staff to include neurosurgery, neuro interventionalists and neurocritical care neurologists
  • Teaching opportunity- 4 residents, 2 stroke fellows per year
  • Administrative time
  • Faculty appointment
  • H1B Visa support available

Preferred Qualifications include:

  • ABPN board certification
  • Vascular Neurology Fellowship required
  • 3-5 years of experience
  • A person of high integrity with a record of significant achievement in medicine
  • Strong administrative skills, including finance, strategic planning, policy, and experience in managing administrative functions
  • Demonstrated success in developing educational and training programs
  • Excellence in education, educational innovation, and experience with faculty development and mentoring
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to foster collaboration and provide guidance
  • Strategic vision to grow and strengthen the stroke and related neurology programs
