Hackensack Meridian Health is seeking a Chief of Child Neurology/Program Director, Child Neurology Residency Program at Jersey Shore University Medical Center/K. Hovnanian Children’s Hospital in Neptune, New Jersey. This leadership opportunity involves direct patient care and participation in the advancement of the clinical, research and education mission of the child neurology team.  The successful candidate will help to develop educational programs that have a regional or national distribution.   This is an excellent leadership opportunity within our thriving health network.


RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Foster a positive work environment amongst a multidisciplinary team consisting of certified child life specialists, pediatric and child neurology residents, and additional pediatric subspecialty services  – neurology, behavioral/developmental, hematology/oncology, pulmonology, endocrinology, infectious diseases, nephrology, rheumatology and genetics.
  • Participate in the education of trainees, including child neurology residents, pediatric and child psychiatry residents, medical students and other interdisciplinary students.
  • In conjunction with the Department Chair, Dr. Harpreet Pall,  conduct annual performance reviews, create faculty development plans and facilitate methods for faculty development including process for promotion.
  • In concert with the Department Chair, Dr. Harpreet Pall, develop plans for outreach, program expansion, new program development, and networking with community pediatricians and agencies.
  • Help to develop educational programs that have a regional or national distribution.
  • Submit an annual report each year summarizing divisional accomplishments, metrics on patient care and patient satisfaction and detail potential plans for the upcoming year.
  • Develop a creative divisional research plan that includes investigator generated research as well as clinical trials and quality improvement.
  • Oversee the delivery of clinical care to ensure outstanding patient centered care.

  • K. Hovnanian Children’s Hospital houses a 45-bed inpatient unit, 10-bed pediatric intensive care unit, a 34-bed level III neonatal intensive care unit, level II pediatric trauma department and a pediatric sedation service. 
  • Located on the same campus, our state of the art pediatric outpatient offices are located at HOPE Tower – a 10-story medical office building providing a healing outpatient experience.

OPPORTUNITY REQUIREMENTS: 

  • M.D./D.O. degree from a recognized Medical or Osteopathic School
  • Successful completion of fellowship program
  • Board certification
  • Have or the ability to obtain a New Jersey Medical License
  • Previous leadership experience
