Rush University System for Health, a nationally recognized clinical and academic health system that includes the teaching hospital for Rush Medical and Nursing Colleges, invites applications for the position of General Neurologist.

We are currently recruiting BC/BE academic and community neurologists at the following locations: Downtown Chicago, Aurora, and Oak Park. The current team includes academic clinical and community neurologists that have a variety of clinical and academic interests, each with extensive experience caring for patients with a wide range of neurological problems in both outpatient and inpatient settings. Depending on the position, candidates may be considered for a faculty appointment. Opportunities may include outpatient and inpatient settings and will provide an opportunity to see a wide variety of neurological diagnoses. Teaching and research opportunities are also available if desired by the candidate.  Qualified candidates must be graduates from an ACGME-accredited neurology residency and must be board certified in neurology. Outstanding clinical skills are required. A competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package are available, including parental leave, fertility benefits, and continuing medical education allowance with time off.

The Rush Department of Neurological Sciences has a long history of excellence, and our neurology and neurosurgery programs are ranked 7th in the United States by U.S. News & World Report for 2024-2025. There are wonderful opportunities to collaborate clinically with over 100 faculty spanning the neurologic subspecialties and to teach with over 40 residents and fellows including an MS specific fellowship. The department also boasts a strong research infrastructure allowing faculty to thrive in their research pursuits. Rush has made a commitment to significantly grow the already robust neuroscience program and footprint regionally and nationally, including with a new ambulatory building that opened last year and another new 60,000-square foot outpatient center at North & Harlem Avenues in Chicago, set to open in the Summer of 2025.

Rush is an elite medical community recognized yearly for excellence in patient care, medical discovery and clinical expertise. Our physicians, advanced practitioners, nurses and staff are the heartbeat of our health system’s ongoing success. We know how important it is to recruit and retain exceptional staff and faculty to execute our mission.

We’re passionate about health equity: for the communities we serve, for our patients and for our employees. We know that the South and West Sides of Chicago have historically been underserved. As a result, there is a 16-year gap in the life expectancy of someone in Chicago’s Loop versus someone in Chicago’s West Side. As the largest employer on Chicago’s West Side, we take it seriously that our institution can change this. Rush has built a strong Office of Community Health Equity and Engagement, and we founded the RUSH BMO Institute of Health Equity. As part of our Anchor Mission strategy, we hire, invest, buy and source, and volunteer locally. We’ve invested more than $6 million on the West Side since 2018, and that number continues to grow every year. And, of course, we continue to provide excellent patient care for everyone who comes to Rush.

Join Rush and become part of one of the nation’s best healthcare systems.
