Multiple Neurology Career Opportunities

DUE TO OUR SUBSTANTIAL GROWTH, Norton Neuroscience Institute is recruiting multiple board-certified or board-eligible physicians for its comprehensive program in Louisville, Kentucky. The selected candidates will join more than 130 adult and pediatric neuroscience specialists who are part of Norton Neuroscience Institute and Norton Children’s Neuroscience Institute, affiliated with the UofL School of Medicine. Norton Neuroscience Institute draws more patients than any other neuroscience provider in Louisville and Southern Indiana. The institute features several multispecialty neurology centers, programs and clinics, allowing providers to focus on care for a specific discipline or patient population.
Norton Neuroscience Institute providers benefit from the flexibility and culture of a private health care system combined with the research priorities of an academic institution. Providers have access to continuing education through the Norton Healthcare Center for Continuing Medical Education, Provider & Nursing Education, as well as weekly neuroscience clinical conferences with neurosurgery and neurology providers.

NORTON NEUROSCIENCE INSTITUTE LAUNCHES NEW RESEARCH INITIATIVE In 2023, Norton Neuroscience Institute Cressman Parkinson’s Research was established to further develop the field of care through clinical trials and translational studies in Louisville. EPILEPTOLOGIST

  • Fellowship-trained in clinical neurophysiology or epilepsy preferred
  • Ability to practice epileptology exclusively
  • Opportunity to provide inpatient and outpatient epilepsy care at a Level 4 Epilepsy Center recognized by the National Association of Epilepsy Centers
  • Comprehensive epilepsy center with fellowship-trained neurologists, neurosurgeons and neuropsychologists, as well as advanced practice providers, a social services coordinator and an epilepsy patient navigator
  • Opportunity to participate in dedicated specialty clinics (ketogenic diet and neurogenetics), a monthly multidisciplinary refractory epilepsy conference and weekly neuroscience case conferences
  • Surgical services, including robot-assisted stereotactic electroencephalogram, resection, NeuroPace, deep brain stimulation and vagus nerve stimulation
  • Additional bonus based on productivity

GENERAL NEUROLOGIST

  • Ability to see a broad range of neurological patients
  • Outpatient schedule only
  • No inpatient call
  • Additional bonus available based on productivity
  • Practice in a highly collegial department with support over 130 subspecialized neuroscience providers, including neurosurgeons, neurologists, neuropsychologists and advanced practice providers

HEADACHE MEDICINE PHYSICIAN

  • Fellowship trained in headache medicine preferred
  • Ability to practice headache medicine exclusively
  • Outpatient schedule only
  • No inpatient call
  • Additional bonus available based on productivity
  • Opportunity to participate in an established telehealth program featuring an innovative approach to patient care

MEMORY DISORDERS PHYSICIAN

  • Ability to practice in the memory disorders specialty exclusively
  • Outpatient schedule only
  • No inpatient call
  • Dedicated team of four physicians, four advanced practice providers, a neuropsychologist and patient resource staff, including a nurse navigator, social worker and basic research scientists
  • Opportunity to participate in translational research, including clinical trials and publications on dementia and Alzheimer’s disease prevention and treatment
  • Development of health equity research and community outreach programs in partnership with the Institute for Health Equity, a Part of Norton Healthcare
  • Opportunity to engage with multidisciplinary boards to discuss and collaborate on treatment plans and strategies with a team of pharmacists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, physical therapists, nutritionists, social services coordinators and other support services

MOVEMENT DISORDERS NEUROLOGIST

  • Fellowship trained in movement disorders neurology preferred
  • Ability to practice exclusively movement disorders neurology
  • Outpatient schedule only
  • No inpatient call
  • Additional bonus available based on productivity
  • Endowed chair opportunity available to support research focused on Parkinson’s disease and other movement disorders
  • Close collaboration with Norton Neuroscience Institute Cressman Neurological Rehabilitation, a dedicated neurological rehabilitation facilitywith advanced technology and specialized services in one location
  • Monthly multidisciplinary deep brain stimulation conference to discuss surgical candidates
  • Opportunity to work with fellowship-trained functional neurosurgeons experienced in awake and asleep deep brain stimulation surgery

NEUROCRITICAL CARE INTENSIVIST

  • Dedicated support staff with advanced practice providers
  • No mandatory trauma care 7 on/7 off schedule Access to 14 neurosurgeons through Norton Neuroscience Institute, including three endovascular/cerebrovascular neurosurgeons and two functional neurosurgeons

    NEURO-ONCOLOGIST

    • Either neurology or oncology residency training required; neuro-oncology fellowship training required
    • Ability to practice neuro-oncology exclusively
    • No inpatient call, including no required stroke call for neurology-based providers and no benign hematology call for oncology providers
    • Ability to create a case mix based on individual career interest
    • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary staff including neuro-oncologists, neurosurgeons, radiation oncologists, behavioral oncologists, neuro-psychologists, speech-language therapists, and neurological rehabilitation specialists, all coordinated by a dedicated neuro-oncology patient navigator

The division’s clinical team is led by 14 child neurologists , 14 nurse practitioners , 3 child neurology residents a year, social worker, and nurse navigators who evaluate and provide care for more than 14,000 affected children across Kentucky and Southern Indiana each year.
