The successful candidate will possess the necessary interests and skills to help expand an established high-quality clinical service. At present, the program consists of three vascular neurologists, two neurointerventionalists, two vascular neurosurgeons, a nurse practitioner, two program coordinators, and a research coordinator. The UVM Stroke Program is a designated StrokeNet study site and offers telestroke services throughout the UVM Health Network

This position emphasizes clinical neurology and participation in LCOM educational programs while offering opportunities for clinical and translational research. The UVM research community has considerable strengths in cerebrovascular disease and stroke as well as vascular biology/biomarkers (hematological and radiographic), thrombogenesis, and the neuropharmacological control of cerebral vessels. Prospective candidates with research or teaching interests related to cerebrovascular disease, neurocritical care, epidemiology, outcomes and/or healthcare delivery are strongly encouraged to apply.

The UVMMC is located in Burlington, Vermont and serves as the state’s only academic medical center. Burlington is a small but vibrant community on the shores of Lake Champlain between the Adirondack and Green Mountains. The area offers year-round recreational opportunities, safe communities, and excellent schools. Burlington is frequently cited amongst the most livable cities in the United States.

UVM is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through their research, teaching, and/or service. Applicants are requested to include in their cover letter information about how they will further this goal. UVM and UVMMC are Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employers. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, protected veteran status, or any other category legally protected by federal or state law.
