MedStar Health is seeking Neuromuscular Neurologists to join the teams at MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center and MedStar Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. Neurologists on staff have the opportunity to be on faculty at Georgetown University. Dr. Carlo Tornatore, Chief of Neurology for MedStar Health, and the team at Georgetown University welcome the faculty at Franklin Square and Union Memorial to participate in MedStar-wide grand rounds, faculty meetings, collaboration with other subspecialists within the department, and participation in clinical research and teaching.
MedStar Franklin Square Hospital Highlights:
- 348 beds Comprehensive Stroke Center AHA/ASA “Get With The Guidelines®” Stroke Gold Plus Achievement Award $70-million surgical pavilion that opened in 2020 Join Dr. Elliot Dawson (Chief of Neurology) and their team of four neurologists. Call is 1:5, covering both Franklin Square and Harbor Hospitals (20 minutes apart). Telestroke program implemented to lighten call. Neurohospitalist covers weekdays.
MedStar Union Memorial Hospital Highlights:
- 223 beds Primary Stroke Center Join Dr. Duane Campbell (Chief of Neurology) and their team of three neurologists. Call for MedStar Union Memorial also covers Good Samaritan (3 miles apart) and call is 1:5 at the most, which can be taken from home and is for evening hours. Telestroke program implemented to lighten call. Neurohospitalist covers 7 days.
Position Highlights:
- Georgetown University faculty appointment (associate or assistant level, depending on experience) Huge demand for EMGs at both MFSMC and MUMH — large neurosurgical/orthospine services on both campuses. MUMH is home of the Curtis National Hand Center and has a large cardiology presence. Support for clinical research Opportunities to teach medical students and residents Telestroke program implemented to lighten call. On average, just 1–2 calls after hours, which can be taken from home.
