The Department of Neurology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine and the University of Maryland Medical Center, seeks a full-time Neurohospitalist at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. Clinical responsibilities include care of inpatients on the general neurology service, care of patients in the step-down neurology Intermediate Care Unit, and neurological consultations in the emergency department. Neurohospitalists will also work closely with the stroke and epilepsy teams. A small amount of Brain Attack Team (BAT) coverage will be expected. Neuro-hospitalists will have a limited outpatient practice primarily seeing hospital discharge follow-up patients. Teaching responsibilities include supervision of residents and medical students on the inpatient service as well as didactic lectures to students, residents, and fellows. Expectations are for close interaction with the Inter-Disciplinary Discharge Team, physical and occupational therapy, and Rehabilitation Medicine to secure quality metrics in length of stay, timely discharges, fall risk, hospital acquired infections, and readmission rates.
Faculty appointment is in the Department of Neurology, University of Maryland School of Medicine.
Qualifications
Maryland licensure required
Applicants must have board certification or eligibility in neurology; neurohospitalist and/or vascular neurology and/or neuro-critical care fellowship training is preferred.
