The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Division of Cognitive Neurology / Memory Disorders is seeking a full-time, tenure-track, research-emphasis faculty to join our expanding Cognitive and Behavioral Neurology Division. The position can be assistant, associate or full professor rank depending on experience and eligibility. This academic appointment also requires providing tertiary clinical services at least 1 day/week, and some participation in existing clinical research activities.
The primary responsibility will be to make contributions to the advancement of neurodegeneration research, with a particular focus on those which impact cognition and behavior. You will have the opportunity to teach graduate student and/or medical school classes. You will be expected to maintain an active and extramurally funded research program, support and train graduate students, mentor postdoctoral researchers and educate residents and fellows when on service.
A wealth of research opportunities are provided by established programs in NIH-sponsored research consortia participation involving Dementia with Lewy bodies and Frontotemporal Degeneration. The division has also been designated a Research Center of Excellence by the Lewy Body Dementia Association. An expanding portfolio of clinical trial opportunities in Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders, several collaborations with a robust and research-intensive Division of Geriatric Medicine, and access to state-of-the-art neuroimaging facilities, including a 7T MRI scanner and hybrid PET-MRI scanner are other potential research avenues. These collaboration opportunities are supported by the state-of-the-art Biomedical Research Imaging Center (BRIC), and the Duke/UNC Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (ADRC) as a source of patient materials and biofluids for research programs.
