Our multidisciplinary department comprises over 45 clinical and 20 research faculty and is currently ranked 4th in the country for NIH funding to neurosurgical departments. We are one of the region's largest neurosurgery programs and draw patients nationally and internationally. Our department annually manages large numbers of unique patients: over 600 with primary brain malignancies, over 650 with metastatic brain tumors, and 800 with benign brain tumors. Additionally, our neurosurgeons operate on more than 500 brain tumors annually and perform 500 Gamma Knife procedures. Our radiation oncologists treat over 1000 unique patients annually with benign and malignant diseases. Our faculty participates in many clinical trials, especially around the treatment of glioblastomas.

This full-time, tenure-track position will be based at Memorial Hermann Hospital in the Texas Medical Center (TMC), one of the world's largest and busiest conglomerations of healthcare facilities, with additional engagement across the Memorial Hermann Health System.

The successful candidate will join two other neuro-oncologists and collaborate with three tumor-focused neurosurgeons, four radiation oncologists, medical oncologists, and otorhinolaryngologists, all closely engaged in the team-based investigation and management of CNS malignancies.

QUALIFICATIONS:

·   Clinician-scientist with proven scholastic skills who will provide state-of-the-art clinical care and capitalize on the opportunity to contribute to pathbreaking brain tumor research.

·   Proven track record in innovation, high-impact publications, extramural funding, and ability to successfully collaborate with basic scientists will enhance candidacy.

·   Board-eligible or board-certified and able to obtain a license to practice medicine in the State of Texas.

The appointee will receive substantive research support based on seniority and prior accomplishments and be eligible for a STARs award from the University of Texas System for infrastructure support.
