Barrow Neurological Institute (BNI) in Phoenix, Arizona, is a focused neuroscience institute and internationally recognized leader in neurology and neurosurgery, neuroradiology, and cutting-edge research.  Drawing patients from the entire United States, Mexico, Canada, and worldwide, BNI has 13 subspecialty clinics in Epilepsy, Headache, Sports Neurology and Traumatic Brain Injury, Neuro-Ophthalmology, Neuro-Oncology, Neuro-Otology, Movement disorders, Neuromuscular diseases, Neurovascular and Stroke disorders, Alzheimer’s disease and Cognitive disorders, Neurocritical Care, Neuroimmunology, and Neuroendocrinology. Our neurologists work closely with over 30 neurosurgeons and 30 PhD and MD scientists in a facility that is uniquely state-of-the-art. All BNI faculty hold academic title appointments with University of Arizona College of Medicine Phoenix and Creighton University School of Medicine.

Job Summary:  BNI seeks a senior leader to continue to build our very active and growing Neurovascular Division and Petznick Stroke Center. The successful candidate may be either a clinician-educator or clinician-scientist, and will be expected to direct all aspects of the clinical stroke program, mentor faculty and trainees, and provide the strategic vision for expansion. Work with an experienced, highly skilled, and comprehensive team of neurological specialists at Barrow Neurological Institute St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center. The team includes advanced practice providers, dedicated nursing, program coordinators, and medical assistants, and partners with Barrow Department of Neurosurgery to create a dynamic neurovascular and stroke program. This is an exciting opportunity to collaborate with a high volume, diverse, and medically complex patient population in collaboration with an outstanding multidisciplinary team.

We provide comprehensive, compassionate, and cutting-edge care in one of the largest dedicated and experienced neurovascular stroke programs nationwide which includes the continuum of inpatient/outpatient stroke care; telestroke; investigator-initiated research, and clinical stroke trials. Our Barrow Emergency Stroke Treatment Units (BESTU) are state-of-the-art mobile emergency units focused on treating stroke victims within minutes of their stroke. BNI cares for more stroke patients than any other facility in the southwest.

The Petznick Stroke Center provides advanced neurovascular care and rehabilitation. Teaching responsibilities will include instruction of medical students, Neurology Residents, and rotating Fellows, including supervision of stroke fellow clinics. We function as a highly cohesive division with an expectation of camaraderie, teamwork, and professionalism.

Job Specifications: Applicants must have an M.D., M.D. /Ph.D., D.O., and be Board certified/Board eligible in Neurology by ABPN and have successfully completed Vascular Neurology fellowship training. Ability to obtain a state of Arizona medical license at time of employment. BNI academic rank and track will match applicant’s qualifications. Qualified candidates will be eligible for an endowed professorship.
