Job Details

ECU Health Physicians and ECU Health Medical Center, located in Greenville, North Carolina, are seeking a board eligible or board certified Neurocritical Care physician to work as a Neurointensivist Nocturnist. Applicants should be fellowship trained in neurocritical care medicine and have knowledge and practical skills in neurologic diagnosis and management, neuroimaging, neurotrauma, stroke diagnosis and management, invasive monitoring, intra-cranial pressure management, as well as ventilator and hemodynamic management. 

The successful candidate will join growing NSICU and Stroke teams and will provide care for critically ill patients with neurologic and neurosurgical illnesses in ECU Health Medical Center’s 24-bed NSICU along with Stroke team coverage. 

ECU Health Medical Center, a 974-bed level 1 trauma facility, serves as the regional leader for Neurosciences and is the only Comprehensive Stroke Center in eastern North Carolina.

Greenville is located 80 miles east of Raleigh and 80 miles northwest of NC’s beautiful Crystal Coast.

  • Join a program inclusive of 4 neurointensivists and 4 vascular neurologists
  • Established clinical neuroscience team of 10 neurosurgeons, including dual-trained cerebrovascular specialists and 20 + neurologists including an interventional neurologist, 4 vascular neurologists, 4 neurointensivists and 13 subspecialty neurologists.  The subspecialties include pediatric neurology, epilepsy, movement disorders, headache, neuromuscular, sleep medicine, intraoperative monitoring and neuro-oncology.  There is also a large team of inpatient and outpatient Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants.
  • Team of 11 dedicated NSICU advanced practice providers who provide 24/7 coverage and 4 dedicated Stroke advanced practice providers who provide daytime coverage
  • Academic appointment with East Carolina University at the rank of Assistant, Associate or Professor
  • ACGME neurology residency recently approved and to start in 2025
  • Strong investment in technology including Gamma Knife, NeuroBlate, and RAPID
  • Over 600 endovascular procedures performed annually to include Subarachnoid coilings  
  • Over 1000 neurological cases performed annually to include complex spine and brain tumor resections  
  • Over 1500  annual admissions with stroke as primary diagnosis  
  • Nationally recognized by Becker’s Healthcare as a top 100 program for neurosurgery
