Fellowship Overview

CHLA’s Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (NDD) Fellowship trains Child Neurologists to become expert in the evaluation, diagnosis, and management of complex neurodevelopmental disabilities such as autism spectrum disorder, intellectual disability, and cerebral palsy. The Neurologic Institute and KiNDD Lab house multidisciplinary clinics and research studies in Rett syndrome, Angelman Syndrome, Dup 15q syndrome, Neurofibromatosis, and Tuberous Sclerosis Complex.

The NDD Fellow will collaborate with various of subspecialties at the No. 1 children's hospital in California. They will participate in innovative fellow-driven clinical projects, clinical and translational research, medical education endeavors, and disability advocacy. A portion of time during the fellowship will be protected for independent research activities. These opportunities will allow our fellows to advance the growing field of Neurodevelopmental Neurology and improve the lives of their patients.

The NDD fellow’s clinical exposure will begin in early neurodevelopmental with Fetal Medicine Consults, Neonatal ICU consults, and High-Risk Infant  Follow-up clinic.  The Fellow will participate in the  Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities (CA-LEND) Training Program and have additional opportunity to rotate through Developmental Behavioral Pediatrics, Neurogenetics, Neuroradiology, Neurosurgery, Craniofacial Clinic, and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

 

Eligibility for Fellowship

Candidates must be board-certified or board-eligible in Child Neurology and have completed 24 months of pediatric training. Training must have occurred in a Canadian or U.S. institution. U.S. citizenship is not required.
