Department of Neurology and Rehabilitation at the University of Illinois in Chicago seeks an Associate Head (Chair) for Clinical Affairs. 

The University of Illinois at Chicago Department of Neurology and Rehabilitation has undergone tremendous growth in education, research and clinical care including a full service line of subspecialists and satellite clinical programs in the Chicago area.  With this and continued clinical growth in the spotlight, we are recruiting an experienced academic clinician to become our Associate Head (Chair) for Clinical Affairs. The successful candidate for this important leadership role will have responsibilities for overall direction and strategic planning of our growing multi-specialty clinical programs that include a comprehensive stroke center, 22-bed NeuroICU, Level 4 epilepsy surgery center, brain tumor center, inpatient and consultation services, and outpatient consultations at our university-based hospital.  The candidate will also develop a comprehensive strategic plan and oversee our community neurology section with outpatient and inpatient services at a number of satellite and partner institutions.  Clinical administrative experience, business development, and excellence in patient care are main priorities at our unique academic institution that provides the highest level of care equally for all patients.  Opportunities exist for the candidate to participate in our education and clinical research programs.

Duties and Responsibilities include:

  1. Oversight of all clinical inpatient and outpatient operations in collaboration with the department head, section chiefs, and clinic medical director.
  2. Participation in clinical and administrative activities focused on quality, efficiency, care coordination, and the development of new or expanded clinical programs.
  3. Provide inpatient and outpatient care services as an attending to include teaching and mentoring of trainees.
  4. Oversight of departmental financial matters in conjunction with our director of administrative operations related to departmental clinical activities.

A competitive salary package for the finalist(s) selected for this (tenured or non-tenured) position at all academic ranks will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.  Startup funding is available for applicants with active research programs.
