MOVEMENT DISORDERS NEUROLOGIST

Maine Medical Partners Neurology has an immediate full-time opening for a BC/BE neurologist with fellowship training in Movement Disorders. The appropriate candidate would join our well-established neurology division, which consists of 23 physicians, including five Pediatric Neurologists, and nine Advanced Practice Providers, with on-site MRI and neurodiagnostic lab. The Neurology group has been the premiere site for neurology care in Maine since 1988.  The practice works closely with our Neuroscience Institute to further develop Neuroscience Centers of Excellence in support of our multiple sclerosis, neuromuscular, stroke, epilepsy, and movement disorders programs.  An active clinical research program is supported through Maine Medical Center Research Institute.  The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary team consisting of two movement disorders specialists, a dedicated nurse practitioner, neuropsychologist, social worker and 1:1 nursing support.  Opportunity exists to participate in a robust and well-established movement disorders surgical program serving the entire state of Maine and beyond.

Maine Medical Center has 700 licensed beds and is the state’s leading tertiary care hospital and Level 1 Trauma Center, with a full complement of residencies and fellowships, and integration with Tufts University Medical School.   Candidate will have the opportunity to teach Neurology residents, residents and fellows from other departments, and medical students. Hospital admission service, stroke and telestroke management, and after-hours phone call coverage is provided by a team of dedicated Neurohospitalists.  Inpatient coverage is limited to an equitable share of daytime coverage on the consult service 4-5 weeks per year.

The successful candidate will be employed by Maine Medical Partners (MMP), a subsidiary of Maine Medical Center and Maine’s largest multi-specialty group.  MMP serves the health care needs of patients throughout Maine and Northern New England.  This high-quality team of 600+ physicians and 350+ advanced practice professionals provides a wide range of hospital-based, primary, specialty, and sub-specialty adult and pediatric care delivered throughout a network of 54 locations across the State and acts as a regional referral network.

Maine’s largest metro, Portland lies two hours north of Boston. Home to more than 525,000 people, Portland is Maine’s most celebrated city. BonApetit.com named it 2018 Restaurant City of the Year. Forbes.com has ranked it among its Top Ten Most Livable Cities and GQ.com called it “One of the Coolest Small Cities in America.”

Ideal for families and young professionals, Portland offers exceptional foods, lifestyles and activities. Attractions include its historic Old Port district, craft microbreweries, the Portland Museum of Art, Victoria Mansion, Wadsworth-Longfellow House and six classic lighthouses. Neighborhoods are welcoming, with many beautiful homes. Public and private schools are excellent. Transportation is reliable, and there are many four-season outdoor activities to enjoy, from sailing and kayaking to hiking, mountain biking and snowshoeing to skiing at one of 14 Maine-area ski resorts.

Maine Medical Partners is committed to creating an equitable, inclusive environment that is welcoming to diverse faculty. MaineHealth is a not-for-profit organization, and its physicians are eligible for loan forgiveness under the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) Program.
