Barrow Neurological Institute (BNI) in Phoenix, Arizona, is a focused neuroscience institute and internationally recognized leader in neurology and neurosurgery, neuroradiology, and cutting-edge research.  Drawing patients from the entire United States, Mexico, Canada, and worldwide, BNI has 13 subspecialty clinics in Epilepsy, Headache, Sports Neurology and Traumatic Brain Injury, Neuro-Ophthalmology, Neuro-Oncology, Neuro-Otology, Movement disorders, Neuromuscular diseases, Neuroimmunology, Neurovascular and Stroke disorders, Alzheimer’s disease and Cognitive disorders, Neurocritical Care, and Neuroendocrinology. Our neurologists work closely with 30 neurosurgeons and 30 PhD and MD scientists in a facility that is uniquely state-of-the-art. All BNI faculty hold academic title appointments with University of Arizona College of Medicine Phoenix and Creighton University School of Medicine.

Job Summary:  The successful candidate may be either a clinician-educator or clinician-scientist and will be expected to have a major role in clinical and/or translational research activities. Work with an experienced, highly skilled, and comprehensive team of neurological specialists at Barrow Neurological Institute/St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center in the Gregory W. Fulton ALS & Neuromuscular Disorders Center. The team includes advanced practice providers, dedicated nursing, program coordinators, and medical assistants. The Gregory W. Fulton ALS & Neuromuscular Disorders Center partners with Barrow Department of Neurosurgery to create the most active comprehensive neuromuscular program in the U.S. This is an exciting opportunity to collaborate with a high volume, diverse, and medically complex patient population in collaboration with an outstanding multidisciplinary team.

Specific duties: We evaluate and treat common and rare neuromuscular diseases such as myasthenia gravis, CIDP, ALS, and muscular dystrophy among many others. Ambulatory and occasional in-patient consultation Scholarly activity including independent research, collaborative research projects, or clinical trials. Teaching medical students, neurological Residents, rotating Neuromuscular Fellow clinics, nurses, and advanced practice providers. We function as a highly cohesive and collaborative division with an expectation of camaraderie, teamwork, and professionalism.

Job Specifications: Applicants must be Board Certified or Board eligible in Neurology by the ABPN and completed Fellowship training in neuromuscular diseases and be highly proficient in EMG. Additionally, experience with nerve/muscle/skin biopsies, autonomic testing, neuromuscular ultrasound, neuromuscular pathology, and intrathecal drug delivery is preferred but not required.  The ability to obtain a State of Arizona medical license at the time of employment is a requirement. BNI academic rank and track will match the applicant's qualifications.
