Barrow Neurological Institute (BNI) in Phoenix, Arizona, is a focused neuroscience institute and internationally recognized leader in neurology and neurosurgery, neuroradiology, and cutting-edge research. Drawing patients from the entire United States, Mexico, Canada, and worldwide, BNI has 12 subspecialty clinics in Epilepsy, Headache, Sports Neurology and Traumatic Brain Injury, Neuro-Ophthalmology, Neuro-Oncology, Neuro-Otology, Movement disorders, Neuromuscular diseases, Neurovascular and Stroke disorders, Alzheimer’s disease and Cognitive disorders. Our neurologists work closely with 30 neurosurgeons and 30 PhD and MD scientists in a facility that is uniquely state-of-the-art. All BNI faculty hold academic title appointments with University of Arizona College of Medicine Phoenix and Creighton University School of Medicine.
Join a Neurology Department comprised of over 60 faculty members; multidisciplinary programs using full range of treatment modalities to care for patients; a vibrant neurology Residency program and subspecialty fellowships. The Department includes large, out-patient state-of the-art facilities, and an established network of resources including dedicated outpatient neurology infusion center, neuro-psychology / psychiatry and therapies; social work; physical, occupational, recreational, and speech therapies; and acclaimed community outreach programs. Job Summary: BNI seeks an individual to lead our very active DBS program and the successful candidate may be either clinician-educators or clinician-scientists. Work with an experienced, highly skilled, and comprehensive team of 7 faculty active in patient care, clinical trials, and cutting edge dry and wet lab research in BNI’s Lonnie & Muhammad Ali Movement Disorders Center and Division at Barrow Neurological Institute/St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center. The team includes advanced practice providers, dedicated nursing, program coordinators, and medical assistants. The Lonnie & Muhammad Ali Movement Disorders Center sees more than 1,000 new patients annually; has more than 14,000 patient visits a year and partners with Barrow Department of Neurosurgery to create the most active deep brain stimulation program in the world. This is an exciting opportunity to collaborate with a high volume, diverse, and medically complex patient population: a phenomenal multidisciplinary group of highly collaborative neurologists, specialized nurses, and pharmacists improving the lives of patients and exceeding their expectations. We function as a highly cohesive division with an expectation of camaraderie, teamwork, and professionalism.
Specific Duties include: Develop and implement strategic vision for DBS programmatic growth; Ambulatory and occasional in-patient consultation; and teaching of medical students, neurological Residents, rotating Fellow, nurses, and advanced practice providers.
Job Specifications: Applicants must have an M.D., M.D. /Ph.D., D.O., and be Board certified/Board eligible in Neurology by ABPN and have successfully completed Movement Disorders fellowship training. Ability to obtain a state of Arizona medical license at time of employment. BNI academic rank and track will match applicant’s qualifications.
