Neuro-Ophthalmology

Under the leadership of Florian P. Thomas, MD, PhD, Professor & Chair of the Neuroscience Institute & the Department of Neurology at HUMC & the School of Medicine, the Department of Neurology, at Hackensack University Medical Center (HUMC), a major academic medical center within the Hackensack Meridian Health network, seeks to employ an experienced, fellowship trained Neuro-Ophthalmologist. The successful candidate will have completed a residency in Neurology or Ophthalmology, a fellowship in Neuro Ophthalmology, and be board-certified or board-eligible in their primary specialty.   Faculty rank at the Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine is commensurate with experience. 

 

The Department of Neurology has fellowship trained subspecialists in all areas of neurology; in particular with substantial programs in multiple sclerosis, headache, and movement disorders. The Department seeks to expand its neuro-ophthalmology division in order to support these programs and a large referral base from ophthalmology. The division has strong support from neurosurgery, orbit, oculoplastics and retina. We are recruiting a collaborative physician with a strong interest in teaching and research. Our outpatient clinic is equipped with a Haag-Streit slit lamp, a Zeiss OCT and Humphrey Field Analyzer.

 

The Department espouses an interprofessional approach in which neurologists, neurosurgeons & neuro- & health psychologists & rehab therapists who are cognizant of health care disparities strive to provide patient-centered care, accurate diagnoses, state-of-the-art treatment, opportunities for clinical trials & to maximize community living.

 

Compensation & Paid Time Off are competitive with standards in the North East.  An annual stipend & time-off for Continuing Education is offered.
