Job Details

Come be part of a team that supports your work and lifestyle goals.

At MaineHealth, you will find supportive and collaborative colleagues, strong patient/provider relationships, and a comprehensive set of resources that will allow you to provide the highest quality care to our patients and the community.  Plus, you will experience the exceptional and rewarding lifestyle only Maine can offer.  Situated on the southern Maine coast, Portland was just ranked as the #1 safest place and the 8th best place to live overall across the nation by U.S. News and World Report.

MaineHealth has an immediate full-time opening for a board certified/eligible adult neurologist with fellowship training or experience in neuromuscular disease and EMG to join our well-established neurology division. The new team member will have the opportunity to take an active role in the education of Neurology, Internal Medicine, and Psychiatry residents, as well as medical students. This individual will be able to participate in our Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) and Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) Clinics.  Candidates with EEG training as part of a neurophysiology fellowship have opportunities to read EEGs and inpatient EMG tests are shared among the EMG providers.

The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment and have strong attention to detail and an enthusiasm for problem solving.  They will also embrace the collaborative culture of our division and bring a demonstrated commitment to putting patients at the center of their work.

Join us and you will find:

  • The state’s largest and most robust Neurology practice.
  • An ideal setting to gain experience and exposure to a variety of cases with the support of close-knit set of colleagues.
  • The opportunity to grow and develop teaching and research experiences through working with both residents and medical students.
  • An environment where new ideas and innovation are encouraged.
  • Inpatient neurology call coverage is supported by a team of Neurohospitalists.
  • Competitive pay and benefits package.

The successful candidate will be employed by Maine’s largest multi-specialty group serving the health care needs of patients throughout Maine and Northern New England.  This high quality team of physicians and advanced practice professionals provides a wide range of hospital based, primary, specialty, and sub-specialty adult and pediatric care delivered throughout a network of 54 locations across Maine and New Hampshire and acts as a regional referral network.

Portland boasts walkable urban density in a historic downtown area, including a nationally renowned culinary culture (Bon Appétit Magazine 2018 Restaurant City of the Year) and top 10 craft beer scene (Travel Channel 2021); abundant live music; a major art museum; and a beautiful working waterfront. The area provides four season recreational opportunities such as skiing, hiking, boating, and miles of beautiful beaches. Just two hours north of Boston, this is an exceptional, diverse, and vibrant community.

Interested candidates may send a cover letter and CV to Linda Wiley, Physician Recruiter at Linda.Wiley@mainehealth.org.
