Barrow Neurological Institute (BNI) in Phoenix, Arizona, is a focused neuroscience institute and internationally recognized leader in neurology and neurosurgery, neuroradiology, and translational neurobiology for neurological care, training, and research. Drawing patients from the entire United State and worldwide, BNI has 12 subspecialty clinics in Epilepsy, Headache, Concussion and Traumatic Brain Injury, Neuro-Ophthalmology, Neuro-Oncology, Neuro-Otology, Movement disorders, Neuromuscular Diseases, Stroke and Neurovascular disorders, Alzheimer’s disease and Cognitive disorders, and Neurocritical Care. Our neurologists work closely with 30 neurosurgeons and 30 research scientists in a facility that is uniquely state-of-the-art.

Join a Neurology Department comprised of nearly 50 faculty members; multidisciplinary programs using full range of treatment modalities to care for patients;  a vibrant neurology residency program and subspecialty fellowships. The Department includes large, state-of the-art outpatient facilities, and an established network of resources including dedicated outpatient neurology infusion center, neuro-psychology / psychiatry and therapies; social work; physical, occupational, and speech therapies. Job Summary: BNI seeks a senior leader to continue to build our very active Epilepsy center and division.  Successful candidate will be expected to have a major role in clinical and/or translational research activities. Work with an experienced, highly skilled, and comprehensive team of neurological specialists in BNI’s Comprehensive Epilepsy Center and Division at the Barrow Neurological Institute at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center. We provide comprehensive, compassionate, and cutting-edge care in one of the largest dedicated Epilepsy programs worldwide. This is an exciting opportunity to treat a high volume, diverse, and medically complex patient population in collaboration with an outstanding multidisciplinary team (5 epileptologists, neurosurgeons, neuroradiologists, neuro-psychologists, nurse practitioners and nurses, and neuro-diagnostic technologists).

BNI is accredited as a Level 4 Epilepsy Center by the National Association of Epilepsy Centers. Our neurophysiology resources include a 12-bed Epilepsy Monitoring Unit, a busy long-term intraoperative monitoring program, continuous EEG monitoring in our 64-bed Neuro ICU, a MEG unit, and an active epilepsy surgery program.  

BNI is a founding member of the Epilepsy Learning Healthcare System, a multicenter network focused on improving care and outcomes for patients with epilepsy.  Teaching responsibilities will include instruction of medical students, neurological residents, rotating fellows, nurses and advanced practice providers. We function as a cohesive division with an expectation of camaraderie, teamwork, and professionalism.  Academic title appointments with University Of Arizona College Of Medicine Phoenix and Creighton University School of Medicine. BNI Academic rank will match applicant’s qualifications.

Job Specifications: Applicants must have an M.D., M.D./Ph.D., D.O., successfully completed Epilepsy and/or Clinical Neurophysiology Fellowship program, and be Board certified in Neurology and Epilepsy or Neurophysiology by ABPN. Applicants must also be able to obtain a State of Arizona medical license at time of employment.  Duties include care of complex epilepsy patients, EEG and video-EEG interpretation, and intraoperative monitoring. Both clinician-educators and clinician-scientists are encouraged to apply.
