Neurocritical Care | Baylor University Medical Center | Dallas, Texas

The Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care & Sleep Medicine in partnership with the Department of Neurology at Baylor University Medical Center-Dallas seeks an academic, fellowship trained neurocritical care intensivist to establish a new neurocritical care program at our flagship campus in downtown Dallas, Texas.

Features of the Position:

  • Collaborate with colleagues in neurocritical care to design, develop and implement a comprehensive neurocritical care program and oversee the integration of all services to deliver high quality evidence-based care to patients in the closed neurocritical care unit.

 

  • Inpatient shift work – approximately 15 shifts per month expected

 

  • Elevate the program into a regional tertiary level care program with an array of neurosciences subspecialties.

 

  • Lead a multidisciplinary neurocritical care team in an ICU team setting.

 

  • Provide care in a 23-bed dedicated neurocritical care unit in close collaboration with the Department of Neurosurgery and Neurology for a high-volume Joint Commission Comprehensive Stroke Center.

 

  • Collaborate and educate critical care fellows, advanced practice providers, residents, and medical students.

Academic appointment with Texas A&M University School of Medicine is available. Rank will be commensurate with academic accomplishments and experience.

 

  • Develop a robust database and engage in clinical trials and other research projects in the areas of traumatic brain injuries, subarachnoid hemorrhage, stroke and related disorders of neurocritical care.

 

  • Medical Director title for candidates with previous leadership experience who have demonstrated excellence in clinical medicine, communication, and team building skills. Successful candidates will be self-motivated with a commitment to excellence in creating clinical programs.

 

Requirements:

Graduate of an accredited medical school with an M.D. or D.O. degree.

Candidates must be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Texas.

Fellowship training in Neurocritical Care or equivalent training

Residency training in neurology or internal medicine and board certified or board eligible by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology or the American Board of Internal Medicine.

 

Fellowship training in Pulmonary Critical Care a plus.

 

BC/BE by the United Council of Neurologic Subspecialties (UCNS) or the Neurosurgical Committee on Subspecialty Training (CAST).

BC/BE in Neurocritical Care by either ABPN- Neurocritical Care or ABIM- Neurocritical Care

Post fellowship experience a plus.

Proficient communication skills, verbal and written.
