Job Details

Rush University Medical Center, a nationally recognized clinical and academic institution and the teaching hospital for Rush Medical College, located in downtown Chicago, invites applications for the position of Vascular Neurologist.  The Department of Neurological Sciences is seeking an academic stroke neurologist to join its expanding program.  Qualified candidates must have completed an approved vascular neurology fellowship program and be BE/BC.  The position includes a faculty appointment in Rush Medical College commensurate with experience. Teaching vascular neurology fellows, neurology residents and medical students and participating in house staff education is also an expectation.

The Rush TJC certified Comprehensive Stroke Program currently includes 6 fellowship trained vascular neurologists, 6 neuro-critical care intensivists, and 3 neuro-endovascular surgeons. This is an excellent opportunity to join a collegial group that provides cutting edge high quality clinical care while also conducting high impact research in the field and educating stroke fellows, neurology residents and other trainees. Rush Neurology and Neurosurgery was recently ranked #3 in the nation by U.S. News and World Report and the comprehensive stroke program has been awarded Gold Plus/Honor Roll Elite status by the AHA.  Rush has a 28-bed neurological intensive care unit, a stroke IMCU as well as a designated inpatient stroke floor for the management and specialized care of stroke patients.  There is also a cerebrovascular ultrasound laboratory for carotid duplex and transcranial Doppler examinations in addition to a well-established Telestroke network and a mobile stroke program. The outpatient stroke clinic has also expanded into specialty clinics including a neuro cardiac clinic, women’s stroke clinic and combined stroke / vascular neurosurgery clinic. Given the robust nature of the program, there are also ample opportunities for growth and leadership roles for interested members of the faculty.
