The Department of Neurology at Boston University and clinical partner of Boston Medical Center (BMC) and the Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine is seeking a Board Certified Neurologist for our Parkinson Disease and Movement Disorders Division. This is a clinical position that includes involvement in education and clinical research.

About the Position

Required Qualifications:

• Candidates must hold an M.D. or D.O. degree.
• Movement Disorder Fellowship training.
• Neurology board certification or elegibilitd.
• Qualified for unrestricted medical license to practice in Massachusetts.

Desired Qualifications:

• Excellent clinical skills and interest supporting the growth of the Movement Disorders Division at Boston Medical Center.
• Cultural competency in caring for a diverse patient population.
• Expertise in performing Botulinum Toxin injections for spasticity, dystonia, and migraine.
• Experience in patient selection for deep brain stimulation (DBS), intra-operative recording, and programming.
• Interest in clinical trials; research in promoting health equity is encouraged.

This position will help to support our clinical services for Parkinson Disease and Movement Disorders at Boston Medical Center and provide personalized care to a diverse patient population. We work closely with a multidisciplinary health care team and we have an experienced clinical research team.

This is a full-time position. Salary structure and compensation plan are competitive for Neurology positions in Northeast academic medical centers.

Mission of the Parkinson Disease and Movement Disorders program

• Provide patient-centered, comprehensive care to a highly diverse population of patients and families affected by movement disorders including Parkinson’s disease (PD), Multiple System
Atrophy (MSA), Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP), Huntington’s disease, Essential tremor, chorea, athetosis, dystonia, ballism, myoclonus, tics, spasticity, ataxia, and restless legs syndrome.

• Deliver state-of–the-art care with diagnostic imaging, genetic testing, medication management, botulinum toxin therapy, Deep Brain Surgery and programming, rehabilitative therapies, and counseling and support.

• Contribute to the advancement of new knowledge through basic and clinical research in collaboration with other disciplines to determine the cause, and study new treatments in movement disorders.

• Train medical students, residents, and fellows to deliver comprehensive neurological care and advance new knowledge in the clinical neurosciences

• Provide education, support, and awareness to patients, families, healthcare providers, and the community at large on Parkinson’s disease and other movement disorders.
