The Department of Neurology at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, ranked the No. 1 hospital in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and the No. 2 hospital in Texas by U.S. News and World Report, is seeking an academic Neuromuscular Neurologist.  The Neuromuscular program at UT Southwestern serves as a tertiary referral center where patients with rare neuromuscular disorders receive expert care from diverse faculty.  The Neuromuscular faculty are a vibrant group of 9 clinicians and researchers, including international and national experts in autonomic and autoimmune disorders, skeletal muscle channelopathies, muscular dystrophy, spinal muscular atrophy, myasthenia gravis, and myositis. In collaboration with the Institute for Exercise and Environmental Medicine (IEEM), the Neuromuscular section also provides expertise in rare metabolic and mitochondrial myopathies. The ALS and muscular dystrophy multidisciplinary clinics are currently supported by a Clinical Care Center Grant from the Muscular Dystrophy Association and have been funded for more than 30 years in recognition of their excellence.

The Department also has a robust departmental Faculty Development Program consisting of a didactic series on how to be successful in academics and a dedicated mentorship program provided by senior faculty members for each junior member; each faculty member is assigned a mentor.  The successful candidate will conduct subspeciality clinical care and research focused on neuromuscular diseases. 



  • Possess or be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Texas 
  • Board certified/board eligible by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology for adult or child neurology
  • Completed a 1-2 year fellowship in neuromuscular disorders
  • Ability to demonstrate excellence in clinical medicine, interpersonal interactions, communication, teamwork skills and be a motivated self-starter
  • Faculty members are expected to participate in academic and clinical research activities 


Appointment rank will be commensurate with academic accomplishments and experience. Consideration may be given to applicants seeking less than a full-time schedule.
