Norton Neuroscience Institute & Norton Children’s Neuroscience Institute

Together, Norton Neuroscience Institute and Norton Children’s Neuroscience Institute, affiliated with the UofL School of Medicine, provide comprehensive neuroscience care for patients of all ages. Staffed by more than 110 experienced subspecialty providers, our team uses advanced technology, including ROSA, NeuroBlate, Visualase and Surgical Theater, to bring state-of-the-art treatment options to Kentucky and region.

Providers from both institutes are supported by Norton Medical Group and its pediatric employment division, Norton Children’s Medical Group, affiliated with the University of Louisville School of Medicine. Norton Medical Group, a part of Norton Healthcare, is a physician-led group that is the largest network of employed medical providers in the area.

Established in early 2009, Norton Neuroscience Institute is the region's leading provider of neurological care. The comprehensive program is led by more than 34 subspecialty, fellowship-trained neurosurgeons, neurologists and neuropsychologists, as well as 35 advanced practice providers who are trained to provide patients and their families with advanced treatment for complex neurological disorders, including ALS; aneurysms; brain tumors; epilepsy; headache and concussion; movement disorders, including Parkinson's disease; multiple sclerosis; pediatric neurosurgery; spinal injuries and disorders; stroke; and more. Norton Healthcare’s stroke network across four adult service hospitals includes Norton Brownsboro Hospital, designated as a Comprehensive Stroke Center by The Joint Commission and the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association, offering treatment for the most complex stroke cases. In 2016, Norton Neuroscience Institute was the first in the region to use ROSA, a robotic surgical assistant, to provide advanced treatment for patients with epilepsy and brain tumors. Norton Neuroscience Institute also is one of the first in the region to use systems such as NeuroPace and NeuroBlate for performing minimally invasive surgical procedures.

About Norton Children’s Neuroscience Institute

Norton Children’s Neuroscience Institute, a part of Norton Children’s Medical Group, represents one of the largest pediatric subspecialty groups in Kentucky. The division’s clinical team is led by 14 child neurologists , 14 nurse practitioners , 3 child neurology residents a year, social worker, and nurse navigators who evaluate and provide care for more than 14,000 affected children across Kentucky and Southern Indiana each year. We evaluate and treat children living with complex health conditions and diseases, ranging from attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and cerebral palsy to epilepsy and Tourette syndrome. Our clinical care activities support improved health and quality of life, and educational opportunities for our young patients.
