Hennepin Healthcare seeks a BC/BE Neurohospitalist to join the Department of Neurology.  

This is a Full-Time (24/7, 7 days on/7 days off work schedule) position covering inpatient stroke and general neurology (estimated 15 to 20 patients/day). This is a consult only service, including consults in the intensive care unit, general medical floor, and the emergency room. The Neurohospitalist position will diagnose and treat conditions and diseases involving the central and peripheral nervous system, including biochemical and electrical abnormalities in the brain, spinal cord, and other nerves; to treat patients living with paralysis, muscle weakness, ataxia, seizures/epilepsy, confusion, strokes, and other brain diseases caused by blood clots or hemorrhage, with particular focus on the processes and systems of health care delivery to inpatients. There are no neurocritical care or endovascular care responsibilities. The role incorporates a teaching service with multiple trainees, so Attending will be responsible for all patients and oversight of trainees.  No procedures required (however, there may be periodic lumbar punctures).  The position will require limited outpatient clinic services.

Hours are M-F (8 am-6 pm) in the hospital and on-call (pager) after hours and weekends 8 am to the end of rounds, and pager call thereafter. One week call is considered 7 am Monday to 7 am the following Monday.

Our providers work closely with learners throughout the hospital. Physicians are expected to take an active role in teaching fellows, residents, and medical students through direct patient care and formal/informal lectures.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Education / Work Experience

  • Must possess a current unrestricted license to practice Medicine in the State of Minnesota or be eligible for licensure
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Neurology
  • If Board Eligible, must be Board Certified within 4 years from the date of completion of the applicable residency, fellowship or training program

May be requested to have or be eligible for an academic appointment at the University of Minnesota
