Description

 

The Department of Neurology in the Renaissance School of Medicine at Stony Brook University is undergoing a period of significant growth. We are seeking neurologists to join our outstanding Movement Disorders Section. Stony Brook is a 624-bed tertiary care facility with a catchment area of 1.5 M residents. It is home to the only DBS program, Center for Tics and Tourette's Disorder and Huntington's Disease HDSA Center of Excellence in Suffolk County.

 

Responsibilities include:

 

• Management of patients with Movement Disorders.

• Provide inpatient Movement Disorders consultations.

• Supervise Movement Disorders APP team.

• Commitment to community engagements and education.

• Coverage of the General Neurology inpatient and consult services.

• Favorable weekend and overnight call responsibility shared equally amongst faculty.

• Supervision of neurology residents and medical students.

 

This represents an exciting opportunity for a Movement Disorders neurologist interested in building an outpatient practice at the region's premier academic medical center. Candidates will have the opportunity to develop innovative clinical, educational, and research programs to suit their unique academic interests.

Qualifications

 

Required Qualifications:

 

• MD degree or equivalent.

• Movement Disorders fellowship training.

• Board Certified/Board Eligible in Neurology.

• Eligibility for New York State licensure.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

• Two years or more of fellowship training.

• Four years or more of experience working as a movement disorders neurologist.

• Proficiency in DBS programming and botulinum toxin treatment.

• Experience in DBS intraoperative neurophysiology.

• Interest in building specialized programs focusing on neurogenetics, ataxia, or normal pressure hydrocephalus.
