The Department of Neurology at Boston University and clinical partner of Boston Medical Center (BMC) and Boston University School of Medicine (BUSM) is seeking a Board Certified or Board Eligible Neurologist for our Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias Division. This is a clinical position with protected research time being provided by the Boston University Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (BU ADRC) and BU CTE Center.

About the Position

Required Qualifications:

  • Candidates must hold an M.D. or D.O. degree. UCNS Behavioral Neurology and Neuropsychiatry Fellowship training is preferred. Neurology board certified or board eligible Demonstrated commitment to encouraging and respecting diverse perspectives and opinions

Desired Qualifications:

  • Excellent clinical skills and interest supporting the growth of Boston Medical Center Excellent research skills and interest supporting the growth of affiliated Research Centers and Programs, including the BU ADRC,  the BU CTE Center, and the Framingham Heart Study Brain Aging Program (FHS BAP). Innovation, teamwork, and positive energy are highly valued Unrestricted medical license to practice in Massachusetts Fluency in an additional language besides English is preferred but not required

This position will help to spearhead our clinical services for Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias at Boston Medical Center and provide personalized care to a diverse patient population. There will also be protected research time provided by our NIA-funded BU ADRC. The BU ADRC conducts cutting edge research on risk factors, biomarkers, diagnosis, health disparities, and mechanisms of AD and CTE. This position will provide several unique opportunities, including: (1) serving as PI of new clinical trials of disease modifying agents for Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias, (2)  helping to develop our new Memory and Aging Clinic that was established to provide clinical care for participants in the BU ADRC and BU CTE Center and facilitate recruitment of new participants, and (3) to pursue an independent program of research with mentorship provided from leaders in the  field of Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. Finally, the internationally-renowned BU CTE Center will provide a one-of-a-kind opportunity to engage in cutting edge education and clinical care and research of CTE.

This is a full-time position. Salary structure and compensation plan are competitive for Memory/Cognitive Neurology positions in Northeast academic medical centers.

About the Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias Division

The Department of Neurology at Boston University has a long tradition of excellence in neurology and neuroscience, including providing interdisciplinary, state-of-the-art clinical care, conducting world-renowned research and educating the next generation of clinicians and researchers. Neurologists in the Division work closely with neuropsychologists, psychiatrists and movement disorder specialists. The Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias Division is strongly integrated with the other Divisions, Centers and Programs in the Department of Neurology, including the NIH-funded BU ADRC, the BU CTE Center, the Sleep Disorders Center and the FHS BAP. The Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias faculty participate in the education and training of medical and other graduate students, residents and post-doctoral fellows who wish to gain experience in clinical care and research in Alzheimer’s disease, CTE and related disorders.

Our staff and resources are expanding rapidly with a supportive hospital administration to expand our service to our population of patients in need of treatment of Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias .
