Adult Neuropsychology Division at UTMB

The Adult Neuropsychology Division of the Neurology Department offers assessment and consultation to evaluate emotional and cognitive functioning in patients with known or suspected brain dysfunction. Neuropsychological evaluation is clinically indicated and medically necessary when patients show signs or symptoms of global intellectual decline or specific cognitive deficits such as memory problems, language disorders, visuospatial perceptual abnormalities, or decline in problem-solving skills. Neuropsychological evaluation yields information to assist in diagnosis, specify cognitive strengths and weaknesses, and monitor changes following neurosurgical procedures or due to brain trauma, multiple sclerosis, cerebrovascular disease, neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's or Parkinson's disease, epilepsy, HIV, as well as other conditions that can affect emotional and cognitive functioning. Referrals are generally made by a neurologist, surgeon, psychiatrists, or primary care physician.

 

Neuropsychology, Clinical Assistant Professor

The Department of Neurology, Neuropsychology Division at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) is seeking an Adult Neuropsychologist to join our faculty.  General responsibilities include:

 

  • Assessment, intervention, and consultative services for neuropsychological evaluations. 
  • Psychotherapy with patients and/or family members.
  • Neuropsychological evaluations for patients with a wide range of neurological disorders. 
  • WADA testing.
  • Participation in clinical research studies.
  • Participation in the teaching/instruction of medical students and residents.

 

Position RequirementsPhD degree or equivalent, Board Certification or Board Eligible in Clinical Neuropsychology and Texas state medical licensure.
