Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California, one of the nation’s premier healthcare institutions, is seeking an accomplished Memory Disorders leader to be the Director of the new Jona Goldrich Center for Alzheimer’s and Memory Disorders. The Center is funded by a generous gift from Andrea Goldrich Cayton and Melinda Goldrich and family, in memory of their late father, a Holocaust survivor and prominent real estate developer, with the potential for additional matching funds.

 

The new Director of the Jona Goldrich Center will be a nationally recognized leader in Alzheimer’s Disease with the drive and focus to build a world class institute aiming to advance our treatment of this illness and related disorders. The Director will lead the Goldrich Center’s cutting edge dementia research programs and clinical programs including the Memory Evaluation Clinic, Memory and Aging program, and clinical trials.

 

The successful candidate will join an exceptional peer group and contribute to enhancing a nationally recognized clinical and academic department. Candidates will have an established record of research accomplishments in Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias.

 

The Director will join in implementing the department’s strategic vision and will have access to the newest treatment modalities, as well as psychosocial and educational support for patients, families, and physicians. The current program includes a Memory Evaluation Clinic, Memory and Aging care management program, and a newly accredited behavioral neurology fellowship training program. The Center launched multidisciplinary memory evaluation clinics, enabling patients to see the full memory disorders team (physicians, nurse practitioners, neuropsychologists, pharmacists, social worker and genetic counsellors in one clinic day. Community outreach to underserved populations, access to cutting-edge research, and initiatives to screen patients for cognitive impairment in primary care and ED settings are just a few of the Center’s many clinical offerings. In tandem with the Center, the Department of Neurology established a Neurobehavior Program to broaden educational, clinical and research expertise in cognitive neurology. A central research focus is the new Alzheimer’s clinical trials program, which is slated to launch its first drug study in spring 2022 to investigate the most promising therapeutic approaches to Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. Starting in July 2022, the Cedars-Sinai Behavioral Neurology Fellowship Program will commence training the next generation of physician leaders in behavioral neurology.

 

Extensive collaborative resources and programs already present at Cedars-Sinai include the Biomedical Imaging and Research Institute, Regenerative Medicine Institute, Proteomics and Tissue Biobank, the newly created Computational Biomedicine Department, Department of Neurosurgery, and the Center for Neural Sciences and Medicine. There is a strong and growing cadre of neuroscience researchers along with graduate training programs in biomedical sciences and imaging.

Qualifications:

  • MD, MD/PhD or PhD Degree
  • Minimum of 5 years in progressive leadership experience
  • Experience in research and academic medicine with a record of extramural funding (e.g. NIH,

NIA, Alzheimer’s Association)
