The Department of Environmental & Public Health (EPH) has an exciting opportunity for a Full Time Postdoctoral Fellow.  The  Postdoctoral Fellow will become an investigator on a National Institute on Aging-funded R01, Greenness, Cognitive Performance and Vascular Outcomes in the Northern Manhattan Study (NOMAS). The Fellow will be responsible for working on all aspects of the study including regulatory matters, liaise with the coordinating centers, data management and analyses, writing manuscripts for publication, and supporting and developing grant applications for the NIH. The Fellow will be supervised by Drs. Scott Brown and José Szapocznik who are highly experienced built environment/chronic disease investigators. Moreover, Dr. Brown has considerable expertise in age-related cognitive decline.  The Postdoctoral Associate supports research activities at the University, under the supervision of a faculty member, in order to advance their knowledge and/or be documented by scientific publications.  Works and collaborates on studies related to field of study. Ensures the design, development, execution and implementation of scientific research and/or development in collaboration with a research team.  Investigates the feasibility of applying a wide variety of scientific principles and theories to potential inventions and products.  Maintains substantial knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories.  Contributes to scientific literature and conferences, when appropriate.

Minimum Requirements

 

Education:

•Doctoral degree or equivalent in their specialty.  Doctoral degree or equivalent in a quantitative neuroscience/public health field, preferred.

 


Experience:

•Experience in data management, advanced statistical analyses and publishing in scientific journals., preferred. 


•Experience in research on environmental protective factors in cognitive functioning, preferred.

 


Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:

•Data science


•Advanced quantitative methods


•Longitudinal research on the impact of environmental protective factors on chronic disease


•Interdisciplinary team experience (e.g., health, environmental, biostatistics)


•Must have excellent communication skills, oral and written. 


•Must be detail oriented.


•Committed to a scientific career in this field.
