Adult & Pediatric Neurology Faculty Opportunities in Beautiful Upstate NY

A well-established academic program is seeking Pediatric, Stroke, Interventional, and academic neurologists with general neurology interests as well as subspecialized interests in dementia, movement disorders, neuro-oncology, headache, and neuro-ophthalmology for their Neurological Institute. There is also an opportunity for a general neurohospitalist to have a dedicated inpatient practice. This is a terrific opportunity to build a busy clinical practice, engage in collaborative research, and teach neurology residents. The dynamic Chief of Neurology is excited to mentor young, talented neurologists or welcome someone with experience.

The program is also seeking qualified applicants at the Assistant/Associate Professor level for the Medical Director position of its Comprehensive Stroke Center. 

Medical Director of Stroke Opportunity Highlights:

  • Only Level I Trauma Center in the region
  • Participation with 11 hospitals through Telestroke program to the neighboring community and rural hospitals
  • State of the art 14 bed dedicated Neuro ICU with 13 bed Stepdown unit (including 5-bed EEG monitoring unit)
  • 900 stroke patients/year
  • Provide instruction to Neurology and Neurosurgery residents and Neurology, ICU and Stroke fellows
  • Join the largest neurology group in the area with over 20 faculty in multiple specialties.
  • Collaborate with a dedicated stroke team of Neurologists, Neurosurgeons, Interventional Radiologists, Cardiologists,  Rehabilitation Therapists, Stroke Certified Registered Nurses, Neuroscience Certified Registered Nurses, Neurovascular Registered Nurses - Board Certified
  • Dedicated and department managed Clinical Research Section

Pediatric Neurology Practice Highlights:

  • Collaborate with the departments of Neurosurgery and Pediatrics
  • Dedicated pediatric Epilepsy neurosurgeon
  • NAEC Level 4 Designated Comprehensive Epilepsy Center
  • Provide instruction to medical students as well as Neurology residents and fellows
  • Engage in clinical or bench research
  • Join a growing pediatric neurology team supported by APPs, dedicated nurses and support staff
  • On-site Children’s Hospital featuring an EMU suite and support services for families

Stroke and Interventional Stroke Highlights:

  • Stroke Inpatient service 12-14 weeks per year
  • Only Level 1 Trauma Center in the region
  • Only Level IV Epilepsy Center
  • Vascular neurology fellowship program
  • State of the art 14 bed dedicated Neuro ICU with 13 bed Stepdown unit (including 5-bed EEG monitoring unit)
  • Full multimodality neuromonitoring capability
  • Provide instruction to Neurology and Neurosurgery residents and Neurology, ICU and Stroke fellows
  • Work with Advanced Practice Providers, residents, fellows, and Neuroscience-certified nurses

Dementia Practice Highlights:

  • Join additional neurologist in the Cognitive Neurology Division
  • Center of Excellence for Alzheimer’s Disease
  • Collegial relationship with Geriatrics Department
  • Outpatient setting with robust nursing and support staff
  • Engage in clinical, basic, and translational research programs
  • No stroke or trauma call for outpatient neurologists

Movement Disorders Practice Highlights:

  • Join additional neurologist in Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders Program
  • Collaborate with neurosurgery on DBS treatment and post-surgical management cases
  • Actively engaged in clinical research
  • Botox treatment for dystonia and spasticity & apomorphine injections for Parkinson’s Disease
  • No stroke or trauma call for outpatient neurologists

Neuro-Oncology Practice Highlights:

  • Join additional neurologist in Brain Tumor & Neuro-Oncology Program
  • Cancer Center is only program in Central NY led by a fellowship-trained neuro-oncologist
  • Multidisciplinary treatment approach with neurosurgery, radiation oncology, medical oncology, neuropathology, and neuroradiology
  • No stroke or trauma call for outpatient neurologists

Headache Practice Highlights:

  • Join current division of 3 headache neurologists
  • Outpatient clinic setting for headache and migraine service
  • Robust nursing and support staff
  • No stroke or trauma call for outpatient neurologists

Neuro-Ophthalmology Practice Highlights:

  • Join additional neurologist in the Neuro-Ophthalmology Division
  • Clinic support includes nurse, Certified Ophthalmic Assistant, and administrative assistant
  • Actively engaged in clinical research with Clinical Research Coordinator support
  • No stroke or trauma call for outpatient neurologists

General Neurology/Neurohospitalist Practice Highlights:

  • Join current division of 7 general neurologists
  • Neurohospitalist opportunity with 7on/7off schedule
