Biomedical Sciences Tenure Track/Tenured Assistant, Associate or Full Professor in UCR School of Medicine
The Division of Biomedical Sciences within the School of Medicine at the University of California Riverside is seeking to hire 3 new faculty members at the tenure track Assistant Professor, tenured Associate or Full Professor rank. We are looking for accomplished biomedical researchers with active research programs in Biologic and Epigenetics mechanisms underlying social determinants of health & disease in children and the aging population. Areas of research interest include but are not limited to adverse childhood events (ACE), developmental disorders, chronic inflammatory disorders, environmental exposures, stress, and diseases relevant to health disparities and inequities. Preference will be given to those individuals examining the molecular mechanisms of human disease who are committed to a collaborative approach to research, and who are experts in their specific disease models.
The successful candidates will have a primary appointment in the Division of Biomedical Sciences. The School of Medicine at UCR is the sixth University of California Medical School and serves the rapidly growing and dynamic Inland Southern California region by training a much-needed physician workforce and catalyzing innovations in research, education, and health care delivery that will improve the health of medically underserved populations. Laboratory and office space will be in the Gold-LEED School of Medicine research building. Areas of research within the Division include addiction, cancer biology, drug discovery, epithelial biology, endocrinology, GI physiology and GI disorders, pulmonology, integrative immunology, host-pathogen interactions, neurodegeneration and neurodevelopmental disorders. Particular strengths on the campus pertinent to this recruitment include epigenetics, RNA processing, genomics/bioinformatics, microRNAs, neuroscience, vector biology, bioengineering and nanotechnology, and synthetic and analytical chemistry. The School of Medicine has 5 research centers: BREATHE, Center for Healthy Communities, Center for Health Disparities Research, Center for Glial- Neuronal Interactions, Center for Molecular and Translational Medicine. The Division of Biomedical Sciences sponsors an innovative Ph.D. program that integrates the core medical curriculum with biomedical graduate training and research. The successful candidate will be expected to teach in the medical curriculum and actively participate in the Biomedical Sciences Ph.D. program. Joint appointments in SOM Division of Clinical Sciences are available for candidates with active clinical practices.

Rank will be determined based on qualifications and experience. The appropriate rank at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level will be based on the candidate's qualifications and experience. After appointment, advancement through the faculty ranks at the University of California is through a series of structured, merit-based evaluations, occurring every 2- 3 years, each of which includes substantial peer input.
The University of California, Riverside is situated in an historic citrus growing area surrounded by mountain ranges. Riverside is about an hour away from ski slopes, surfing, or hiking in mountain or desert environments, and housing in the area is very affordable. The campus is also located in a prime position to take advantage of the other universities, research institutes, and biotech industries present in Southern California.
