The Clinical Neurophysiology Fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in Arizona is currently accepting applications for our 2023-2024 academic year. Mayo Clinic's neurophysiology programs prepare you for an academic career by providing you with experience in teaching, research, and clinical studies. One position is available for each track: EEG and EMG.

EMG track: 1 position

The one-year Clinical Neurophysiology, Electromyography (EMG) Fellowship Program at Mayo Clinic in Phoenix/Scottsdale, Arizona, will prepare you to establish and supervise an electromyography laboratory in an academic institution or integrated group practice.

In addition to standard nerve conduction and electromyographic techniques, you will learn about:

  • Single-fiber electromyography
  • Evoked potentials
  • Surgical monitoring

Experience in the clinical evaluation of patients with neuromuscular disorders is also provided during the fellowship.

EEG track: 1 position

The one-year Clinical Neurophysiology, Electroencephalography (EEG), Epilepsy Fellowship Program will prepare you to establish and supervise an epilepsy program and EEG laboratory.

During the fellowship, there is a strong emphasis on EEG of seizure disorders. You will be exposed to a variety of seizure problems, the monitoring techniques used to evaluate patients with seizure disorders - including prolonged monitoring and ambulatory monitoring - and techniques used for recording during surgery.

You will also see and interpret EEGs with a wide variety of other patterns during the EEG rotation. Training in Siscom utilization and brain mapping is also included during the EEG rotation.

The epilepsy portion of the program is designed for those who wish to acquire knowledge and skills in the comprehensive management of patients with epilepsy and its related disorders.

The Clinical Neurophysiology, EEG, Epilepsy Fellowship includes both didactic and clinical experiences, training you to:

  • Interpret EEGs
  • Supervise prolonged recordings
  • Coordinate special studies
  • Perform surgical monitoring
  • Conduct clinical research
  • Teach other medical trainees
