Denver Health Medical Center is searching for an adult epileptologist to join our group. This is an academic position affiliated with the University of Colorado School of Medicine, with teaching responsibilities. Qualified candidates must have an M.D or O.D. degree, have completed neurology residency, and will have accredited fellowship training (2 years of epilepsy and/or clinical neurophysiology).The ideal candidate has expertise in the evaluation and treatment of refractory epilepsy patients.

The Denver Health Epilepsy Center is a Level 4 center that offers inpatient monitoring including phase I EEG, phase II EEG in the epilepsy monitoring unit utilizing subdural grids and stereo-EEG, cortical stimulation/brain mapping, advanced imaging including 3T brain MRI and PET, and Wada testing. MEG and ictal/interictal SPECT are also available via nearby referral to the University of Colorado main hospital campus. Treatment options include surgical resection, laser ablation, VNS, RNS and DBS. Our center includes two highly skilled neurosurgeons committed to epilepsy surgery. Experienced neuropsychologists and speech therapists participate in our presurgical evaluations.

Based on level of academic experience, the physician will be of Assistant or Associate Professor rank, and be provided with a generous CME allowance, time off for educational conferences, and support for academic research. There are ample opportunities for mentoring residents in research, teaching in conferences, and supervising epilepsy electives. Responsibilities will include supervision of residents in Epilepsy Clinic and some general neurology clinics and supervision of a Neurology Inpatient Consult team of 4-5 residents, approximately every 6 weeks.

Education and Experience

1.Graduation from an Accredited Medical School and completed Accredited Residency Programs and fellowships for specialist, or equivalent.

2.Board Certified.

2.Thorough knowledge of pharmacological agents used in patient treatment.

3.Able to effectively manage and direct medical staff support activities while providing quality medical care.
