The School of Medicine at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill is consistently rated among the top public academic research medical centers in the United States. The Department of Neurology provides the neurological expertise to support the School’s three-part mission of teaching, research, and patient care. The Department has more than 45 faculty with broad subspecialty representation in epilepsy, sleep disorders, movement disorders, neuromuscular diseases, cerebrovascular diseases, pediatric neurological disorders, behavioral neurology, and dementia.

The Epilepsy Division Chief is expected to possess a strong background in patient care, teaching, research and can assume administrative roles for the Epilepsy program in the Department of Neurology. They will also oversee and further develop the clinical epilepsy program of the EMU, Epilepsy Clinic and Epilepsy Surgery Program.  The successful candidate will join an established epilepsy team of 4 adult epilepsy and clinical neurophysiology faculty, 4 pediatric epilepsy faculty, neurosurgery, neuroradiology, neuropsychology, and psychiatry faculty as well as dedicated APPs and social work.  UNC Epilepsy program is an NAEC-accredited Level 4 epilepsy center with a strong history in providing cutting edge pharmacological, device and surgical therapies in epilepsy.  Position requires an MD or DO degree, board certification as an epileptologist or clinical neurophysiologist at Associate or Full Professor rank with administrative experience and a strong background in patient care, teaching and research.  They must also possess significant experience in pharmacological, surgical and device therapies of epilepsy and be able to obtain an unrestricted North Carolina state medical board license.

 

The Child Neurology Division Chief is expected to possess a strong background in patient care, teaching, research and can assume administrative roles for the Child Neurology program in the Department of Neurology. The individual in this position will be responsible for overseeing Neurology care delivery for children in the inpatient and outpatient setting at UNC and UNC Health system institutions where UNC faculty provide clinical care or diagnostic testing.  Position requires an MD or DO degree, board certified in Neurology and Pediatric Neurology, five plus years of related experience, demonstrative comprehensive understanding of a medical school/hospital environment and the ability to obtain an unrestricted North Carolina state medical board license.

 

Income Package:  A negotiable income package is offered for all positions and is based upon Academic rank and level of Academic experience. UNC offers a superior benefits and retirement program along with relocation and other incentives are also provided.
