The Department of Neurology at the Wayne State University School of Medicine is seeking applicants for a Neurobehavioral faculty position on the Clinician-Educator Track. The Department of Neurology is committed to being a regional leader in this field by expanding its neurobehavior division and provide high quality care to vastly underserved population in South-East Michigan.

Program Highlights

  • The Department has a strong tradition of clinical excellence and research and is housed at the Detroit Medical Center, the largest hospital system in Detroit Metropolitan area
  • Opportunity to train medical students at one of the largest medical schools in the country and neurology residents
  • Wayne State University is part of Michigan Alzheimer’s Disease Research Consortium (MADRC) encompassing three biggest Michigan academic institutions – Wayne State University, University of Michigan, Michigan State University. The consortium provides scientific and database resources, access to thought leaders in the cognitive disorders field and opportunities to perform multicenter research
  • Wayne State University houses the Institute of Gerontology that focuses on aging centered research, community outreach and empowering older adults
  • Availability of FDG-PET scan and a world-leading PET research center. Amyloid-PET will be available soon
  • Participates in dementia clinical trials
  • Availability of in-house neuropsychologist

The new faculty will:

  • Help lead and expand the growing neurobehavioral program
  • Make strategic decisions about the development of the program
  • Develop protocols and policies regarding new and upcoming treatments for dementia
  • Participate in neurobehavioral and cognitive disorders scholarly activity including clinical trials
  • Train the next generation of neurologists
  • Participate in conferences and seminars of the Department of Neurology
  • Other duties as assigned


  • M.D. or D.O. degree required
  • Board certified or eligible in Neurology
  • Fellowship training in neurobehavioral and dementia disorders optional but desirable
  • Strong clinical and research experience including clinical trials in neurobehavioral disorders is desirable
  • Rank commensurate with credentials
  • Valid Michigan medical license
