Job Details

The Center for Alzheimer’s and Neurodegenerative Diseases (CAND) at Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) is seeking three tenure-track faculty members at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, including both basic and clinician-scientists. The successful candidates will hold an MD and/or PhD and lead outstanding, independent translational research programs studying the biology of neurodegeneration. Physician-scientists from the fields of neurology and neuropathology are strongly encouraged to apply, but candidates with other specializations will also be considered. CAND was established in 2020 to promote interdisciplinary and cross-institutional collaborations that advance research, clinical care, and education on Alzheimer’s and related neurodegenerative diseases. Generous laboratory space and commitment of startup funding will be matched to the candidate’s interests and needs. Extraordinary opportunities exist for innovative research collaborations throughout the College, including with the Departments of Neurology, Pathology & Immunology, Psychiatry, Radiology, Neuroscience and Molecular & Human Genetics, the Huffington Center on Aging, and the Human Genome Sequencing Center. Unparalleled facilities and access to a wide range of advanced cores will strengthen translational research programs. Space is also available in the Jan and Dan Duncan Neurological Research Institute (NRI). The NRI unites world experts in genetics, neurology, neuroscience, developmental biology, and computational biology, and includes open laboratory space and a unique interdisciplinary environment ideally suited for cutting-edge, collaborative research programs focused on neurodegeneration. Strong resources also exist within the BCM Department of Neurology, including outstanding clinical and clinical trial programs within the Alzheimer’s Disease and Memory Disorders Center, Parkinson’s Disease Center and Movement Disorders Clinic, and the neuromuscular disorders division. The BCM Department of Pathology & Immunology provides clinical pathology services for 43 regional hospitals in the Texas Medical Center and broader region. In particular, opportunities exist to build on longstanding collaborations with the Houston Methodist Hospital on neuropathology clinical service, research, and education, including a vibrant neurodegenerative disease brain bank program.

Candidates must complete an employment application at www.bcm.edu/careers  to be considered and should upload a curriculum vitae and statement of research plans (up to 3 pages) as a PDF. Search Job Opportunities for postings 8445, 8502, and 8812.
