The Department of Neurology at UNC

The School of Medicine at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill is consistently rated among the top public academic research medical centers in the United States. The Department of Neurology provides the neurological expertise to support the School’s three-part mission of teaching, research, and patient care. The Department has more than 45 faculty with broad subspecialty representation in epilepsy, sleep disorders, movement disorders, neuromuscular diseases, cerebrovascular diseases, pediatric neurological disorders, behavioral neurology, and dementia.

UNC is dedicated to teaching and the Department of Neurology is seeking qualified applicants with strong clinical, teaching and research skills for a full-time Stroke and Vascular Neurology Division Chief.     

The Stroke and Vascular Neurology Division Chief will join and lead a team of four Vascular Neurologists directing acute stroke and neuro-hospitalist care at the UNC Medical Center. While on-service, they will supervise resident-staffed acute stroke and neuro-hospitalist teams, with support from Emergency Medicine, Neurocritical Care, Neurosurgery, Neuro-interventional Radiology, Neuroradiology, and Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation. There is an active acute stroke thrombectomy program with rapid advanced stroke imaging capabilities. The Division Chief will have ample academic time and career mentorship to develop his/her clinical, research, and teaching interests.

 

Income Package:  A negotiable income package is offered and is based upon Academic rank and level of Academic experience. UNC offers a superior benefits and retirement program along with relocation and other incentives.

Position Requirements

 

MD or DO degree, board certified in Neurology and Vascular Neurology, five plus years of related experience, demonstrative comprehensive understanding of a medical school/hospital environment and the ability to obtain an unrestricted North Carolina state medical board license.
