Solo adult neurologist position available in SF Bay Area
I am a 54 year old neurologist needing to retire earlier than planned due to a chronic medical condition, and desire a new neurologist to come in to take over my adult general neurology practice. I have been in solo practice in Castro Valley, an eastern suburb of California’s San Francisco Bay Area, for 26 years, with a stable referral base of community doctors and EMG testing referrals from workmans compensation clients as well as the community doctors.
I still use paper charts, but e-prescribing and e-fax to receive radiology and lab results. I have two excellent office staff that do my billing, test ordering and scheduling. The neurologist who takes over the practice could install their electronic medical record of choice, but i would want them to keep my staff on their payroll. I have three years left on my office lease, an 850 square foot space with one exam room with a Cadwell EMG machine, and one consultation room. My office is located conveniently next door to the hospital where i see inpatient consults.
I share every-other-weekend call coverage with a neurologist in the neighboring community, which mainly involves answering a few phone calls from the ER and seeing a few hospital consults during the day at the two local hospitals. I would recommend the new neurologist be willing to maintain that arrangement, as it allows for very flexible vacation coverage.
My collections have averaged $650k per year the past 10 years, with overhead costs averaging $200k. I am looking for an independent-minded neurologist to step in to my solo practice and take over the care of the kind patients I have been privileged to serve the past quarter century.
