Nationally Recognized in Neurosciences Neurology Opportunities   Chief of Epilepsy Center

 

The Department of Neurology at Jersey Shore University Medical Center (JSUMC), a major academic medical center within the Hackensack Meridian Health Network, seeks to employ a full time BE/BC Epilepsy Center Chief. Candidates will have completed a residency in Neurology and fellowship in Epilepsy and Neurophysiology accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or the United Council for Neurologic Subspecialties (UCNS). Faculty appointments are available through the Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine and rank is commensurate with experience.

 

  The Neuroscience Institute at JSUMC incorporates comprehensive care in all facets of neurosciences. The center has a dedicated neuroscience unit with an epilepsy monitoring unit and a dedicated closed neuro-critical care unit. The neurology department is composed of over 20 subspecialty neurologists and neurosurgeons.  

 

  The Epilepsy Center at JSUMC incorporates a world class adult functional neurosurgeon who is seeking to partner with a robust academic epileptologist with a strong interest in developing a surgical epilepsy program. The center also includes a double board certified pediatric & adult neurosurgeon who also has special interest in pediatric epilepsy surgery. The epilepsy center includes a robust group of Neurophysiologists, APP's, neurodiagnostic technicians, neuropsychologists, health psychologists, and epilepsy nurse champions. The selected candidate will work jointly with other departmental epileptologists to grow epilepsy admission referrals, lead epilepsy case conferences, establish standard protocols and procedures, and advance the program's participation in epilepsy research. The center director will be responsible for oversight of the neurophysiology lab, the epilepsy monitoring unit, and will be accountable for NAEC level 4 epilepsy center application submission and approval.  

 

  This position will be recruited by Alan Colicchio, MD, HMH Southern Region Chair of Neurosciences.
