The School of Medicine at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill is consistently rated among the top public academic research medical centers in the United States. The Department of Neurology provides the neurological expertise to support the school’s three-part mission of teaching, research, and patient care. The Department has more than 45 faculty with broad subspecialty representation in epilepsy, sleep disorders, movement disorders, neuromuscular diseases, cerebrovascular diseases, pediatric neurological disorders, behavioral neurology, dementia, and Neuro Critical Care services.
 

Neurointensivist Faculty Opportunity – The Department of Neurology at University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill seeks a full-time BC/BE Neurointensivist to join our growing group.  The successful candidate will join our team of 5 Neurointensivists providing neurocritical care services in our state-of-the-art Neuroscience Intensive Care Units at the University of North Carolina Medical Center in Chapel Hill and REX Hospital in Raleigh.  The appointment is a full-time, fixed term or tenure-track faculty appointment.  This recruitment is open rank and dependent upon qualification/experience of the candidate.  The Neuroscience ICU at the Medical Center is a 22-bed open unit staffed full-time by Neurointensivists, 12 acute care nurse practitioners providing 24/7 coverage, and residents rotating from Neurology, Neurosurgery and Emergency Medicine.  The Neuroscience ICU at REX hospital is a 10-bed closed unit staffed by Neurointensivists and APPs.  We have a fellowship-training program in Neurocritical Care and have 1-2 fellows per year.  Preferred start date is November 30, 2021.

 

Position Requirements - The qualified candidate will have an M.D. or D.O. degree and will be BE/BC through the American Board of Medical Specialties of Neurology, Anesthesia, Internal Medicine, Neurosurgery, or Emergency Medicine.  Additional training in a neurocritical care fellowship is required.  The candidate must also be able to obtain/hold a North Carolina medical license.    

Income Package:  A negotiable income package is offered and is based upon Academic rank and level of Academic experience. UNC offers a superior benefits and retirement program along with relocation and other incentives.
