The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center Department of Neurology seeks an outstanding investigator at the Associate or Full Professor level to lead the Division of Epilepsy. This leadership position will be under the direction of Benjamin Segal, MD, Professor and Chair of the Department of Neurology and the Director of the Neuroscience Research Institute.

The Ohio State comprehensive epilepsy program has been designated as a level 4 center by the National Association of Epilepsy Centers. The current faculty consists of 4 adult board certified epileptologists and 2 advanced practice practitioners. The Ohio State Wexner Medical Center has an 8 bed Epilepsy Monitoring Unit, outpatient neurodiagnostic EEG and evoked potential labs, and a robust neurocritical care long term EEG monitoring program servicing all three of the OSU hospitals. The epilepsy surgery program  offers state of the art  phase II intracranial monitoring with robot assisted stereo-electroencephalography, subdural monitoring, minimally invasive epilepsy surgery including laser interstitial thermal ablation therapy, neurostimulation and DBS and VNS modulation therapy. The Department of Neurology has an active ACGME accredited Clinical Neurophysiology fellowship programs and plans to initiate an Epilepsy fellowship program in July 2022.

This position will be supported by two endowed chairs (one for the chief and 1 for a high level recruit), and a generous start-up package that will help support the successful candidate’s personal research program as well as allow the recruitment of  another 3-4 faculty members (such as bench scientists, physician scientists, and/ or clinical trialists in Epilepsy). 

The ideal Division Director candidate will be a national leader in the field of epilepsy and clinical neurophysiology.

Ideally, the successful candidate will have:

  • Strong academic experience with a track record of extramural funding
  • An active investigator initiated research program and associated publications
  • Demonstrated leadership skills in building innovative programs, mentoring junior faculty members as well as recruiting and retaining faculty
  • Commitment to the recruitment, development, and retention of women, underserved minorities and disabled individuals
