We are a well-established, independent, Level II Trauma Center that's been dedicated to improving the health of area residents for over 115yrs. We are best known for our compassionate & personalized approach to care and attribute our success to our dedicated physicians, advanced practice professionals, staff and outstanding volunteers while having a mutually, beneficial relationship with the 170,000+ residents we serve in 20 different communities.

Morris Hospital & Healthcare Centers is seeking an additional BE/BC Neurologist who’s passionate about practicing general neurology, competent in neuromuscular disorders & pro-active with Stroke Care. Our position is due to patient volume growth so our physicians are looking for another great partner with an energetic personality, motivated, has strong work ethics & desires to become part of a well-established team. Fellowship-not required!

  • Work with Dr. Peter Analytis, Dr. Isaac Mezo, & Stefanie Henline, APRN who, collectively, have over 30 years of Neurology experience at Morris Hospital and have a great reputation with our 25 PCPs and 37 represented specialties!  Their referral patterns are strong and continue to grow from physicians & facilities around our service area of 170,000+ residents.

 

  • Busy neurology practice including EMG, EEG, Nerve Conduction Studies, sharing code strokes.  General cases include headaches, movement disorders, concussions, seizures, speech & language disorders, infections of the brain, and peripheral nervous systems, dementia, MS and sleep disorders. Weekend Call 1:3 and Weekday 1:2 Call – very minimal call workload, “you never come in at night, just doesn’t happen” per Dr. Mezo. 
  • Concussion Management Program featuring a multi-disciplinary approach with several ImPACT certified providers who work together to evaluate & help patients recover from injuries. This program started in 09/2020 and utilizes ED, IMC, Neurology and Rehab services to enhance concussion diagnosis, evaluation and treatment.

 

  • Outpatient Clinics in Morris (3min from hospital) and Channahon (20min from hospital). Plus, we have a Morris Hospital Sleep Center that’s associated with our Neurology practice, located at the Morris office, where approx. 12-14 studies are performed weekly.
  • In 01/2021, our newly remodeled Cardiac Diagnostics Department was expanded and conveniently moved next to the Cath Lab and includes IR and a new neurology diagnostic testing (EEG) area as part of Phase II of our Master Facility Plan*.

  • Work with a Level II Trauma Center that’s accredited by the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons as a Community Cancer Program.  We also have a long-standing phenomenal ED & Radiology departments (including IR & Breast Health Nurse Navigator), Hem/Onc, Neph (we do inpatient Dialysis), Rheum, GI, GS, Ortho/Back/Podiatry, ENT, ID, Peds, Ob/Gyn, 4 Urgent Care centers, our own blood bank, 3 pathologists, plus PT/OT/SLP Rehabilitation inpt/outpt Services, pain management, wound care, an open ICU with Pulm consults available to name a few.  Hospitalist Program is well-established, successful for patients and physicians and they admit inpatients day and night.

 

  • Receive support from our award-winning nursing staff and reputable 24/7 Pharmacy & Laboratory departments. Awesome Case Management/Social Work support; Multi-Disciplinary Rounds are done on every inpatient (including ICU) in the morning.

  • Since 03/2018, our $60 million master facility plan included expanding our Emergency Department (17 private rooms with state-of-the-art features, opened 03/20).  We also renovated our IF therapy, imaging (new women’s center!), outpatient lab services and main lobby patient flow.  Starting 05/2021 as part of Phase 3, we will be modernizing our surgical waiting room, ORs (added infrastructure) and updating our patient registration process.

Company History

Around the turn of the 20th century, David A. Mathews was a prominent local farmer and businessman in the Morris community. When his wife became critically ill, Mr. Mathews had no choice but to rush her to a hospital in Chicago. The experience convinced him that Morris should have a hospital of its own in order to allow patients to remain close to their families during times of illness and avoid delays that could mean the difference between life and death.
Mr. Mathews rallied the support of a number of local doctors who also agreed that the Morris community needed a hospital, and through their combined efforts, interest and knowledge, they achieved their vision. On September 7, 1906, the first patient, who was dangerously ill with typhoid fever, was admitted to the new Morris Hospital, located on the third floor of the Collins Building at the corner of Liberty and Jackson Streets in downtown Morris. Converted from an apartment, the first Morris Hospital had eight to 10 beds and an operating room created from the living room of another apartment.
The official papers of incorporation of Morris Hospital, dated December 5, 1906, were received from Springfield, signed and sealed by the then Secretary of State James A. Rose. Without delay, the incorporation papers were filed in the circuit clerk's office, legally creating Morris Hospital.
So much has changed over the past 100 years - including modern, expanded hospital facilities along with incredible technology that helps diagnose and cure disease. Despite modern advances, one thing that has remained the same over all these years is Morris Hospital's commitment to healing and saving lives, just like Mr. Mathews envisioned 100 years ago.
Thousands of physicians, nurses and support staff have dedicated their lives to serving patients at Morris Hospital over the past 100 years. It's because of these individuals, along with a supportive, caring community, that Morris Hospital continues to prosper.
