Academic General Epileptologist, UMASS Department of Neurology

The Department of Neurology at UMass Medical School (UMMS) is recruiting for an Academic General Neurologist, specialized in Epilepsy (clinician or clinician-scientist). This individual will have a unique opportunity to assume a leadership position in innovative clinical care and research into epilepsy and related disorders. Candidates must hold M.D. or D.O. degree. This individual will join an active epilepsy group with in-patient and out-patient services and will also work closely with experts in neurosurgical therapy for epilepsy.
Fellowship training in long-term invasive monitoring, stereotactic placement of depth electrodes, awake craniotomy with electrical brain mapping for language and motor assessment, vagal nerve stimulator placement, disconnective and resective surgery, and interstitial laser ablation for temporal lobe and hypothalamic lesions is required.
This position entails a faculty appointment at UMMS, which affords exceptional opportunities for professional development and promotion, and membership in the medical staff at the UMass Memorial Medical Center, a large, integrated health system (UMMHC). UMMS and UMMHC combine top-flight clinical care with world-class research. UMMS has numerous cutting-edge research programs in RNA biology, gene expression control and human gene therapy, quantitative health sciences and outcomes research, as well as a translational program supported by a Clinical Translational Science Award (CTSA). The Neurology Department is committed to integrating the outstanding academic and clinical programs through multiple activities including teaching, comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services, an active neuroICU, and a large referral base throughout New England.
