The Department of Neurology at McGovern Medical School at the University of Texas Health Science Center - Houston invites applications for a full-time biostatistician at the Assistant Professor/Associate Professor/Professor level appointment to work in the Texas Medical Center, the largest medical center in the world with one of the highest densities of clinical facilities for patient care, basic science, and translational research.

Key Accountabilities

  • Conduct collaborative research with UTHN neuroscience faculty and other investigators
  • Supervise and execute aspects of the research process, from study design, data collection, to data analysis
  • Perform statistical analysis and interpretation of data for research projects
  • Develop statistical programs for data wrangling and implementing standard and advanced statistical methodology in software packages such as R and SAS
  • Participate in research, service, and educational activities that contribute to the mission of UTHN
  • Provide consultation service on biostatistics, population health, and epidemiology
  • Perform methodological research, alone or in collaboration with other faculty, that results in peer-reviewed publications and collaborative extramural funding

 Qualifications

  • Required: PhD degree in biostatistics, or a related field such as epidemiology, population health, or data science, with extensive statistical training or experience
  • Required: at least 3 years of experience as a biostatistician in biomedical and health related setting
  • Evidence of scholarly experience and productivity
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with building partnerships across disciplines in pursuit of research objectives
  • Experience analyzing data from clinical research
  • Advanced analytic software programming skills (e.g., SAS or R)
  • Strong interest and aptitude in working with biomedical investigators in fundamental, translational, population health, and clinical research projects
  • Emerging or established regional or national reputation commensurate with the ranks
