Postdoctoral Associate - Pediatric Epilepsy

This post-doctoral research position is assigned to the Division of Neurology and Epilepsy at Lurie Children’s Hospital and Northwestern University Medical. Dr. Joyce Wu’s laboratory focuses on outcomes in pediatric epilepsy and epilepsy surgery, including biomarkers on electroencephalography (EEG) and electrocorticography. Because the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying seizure generation and epileptogenesis remain unknown, biomarkers in epilepsy help clinicians and researchers alike to better understand where in the brain seizures may originate, the spatial extent of the epileptogenic zone, and the mechanisms responsible for seizure generation. The long-term goal of this work is to: 1) improve epilepsy surgery outcomes, 2) better understand mechanisms of seizure generation from resected tissues in collaboration with bench scientists, as well as 3) predict on non-invasive EEG and video-EEG patient response to anti-seizure medications.
