Maine Medical Partners Neurology has an immediate full-time opening for a board certified/eligible, adult neurologist with fellowship training in Neuromuscular Disease to be the Director of our Neuromuscular department. The appropriate candidate would join our well-established neurology division which consists of 23 physicians, including 5 Pediatric Neurologists, and 9 Advance Practice Professionals, with on-site MRI and neurodiagnostic lab. The Neurology group has been the premiere site for neurology care in Maine since 1988.  The practice works closely with our Neuroscience Institute to further develop Neuroscience Centers of Excellence in support of our neuromuscular, stroke, epilepsy, movement disorders, and MS programs. Research interests are supported through Maine Medical Center Research Institute.

Maine Medical Center has 637 licensed beds and is the state’s leading tertiary care hospital and Level 1 Trauma Center, with a full complement of residencies and fellowships, and integration with Tufts University Medical School.   Candidate will have the opportunity to teach Neurology residents, residents and fellows from other departments, and medical students. Hospital coverage is provided by Neurohospitalists and call coverage in limited to an equitable share of weekend daytime outpatient phone call coverage approximately 1/10 weekends.  There are occasional inpatient EMG tests which are shared by the EMG providers. Well established multi-disciplinary MDA clinics meet monthly. This position includes protected administrative time to build the program as well as teaching time commensurate with level of involvement. Recruitment payments can be considered in advance to provide additional compensation during fellowship training.

The successful candidate will be employed by Maine Medical Partners (MMP), a subsidiary of Maine Medical Center and Maine’s largest multi-specialty group.  MMP serves the health care needs of patients throughout Maine and Northern New England.  This high quality team of nearly 600 physicians and 350 advanced practice professionals provides a wide range of hospital based, primary, specialty, and sub-specialty adult and pediatric care delivered throughout a network of 54 locations across the State and acts as a regional referral network.
