Pediatric Neurology – Faculty Opportunity

South of Houston, TX

The University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB), Department of Pediatrics, Division of Pediatric Neurology is seeking a full time Board Certified/Board Eligible Pediatric Neurologist for a faculty position.

The University of Texas Medical Branch - UTMB Health is a multibillion-dollar health science center comprised of four schools, three institutes and over 10 exceptional research centers. UTMB was the first academic health center in Texas and is home to the state’s first schools of medicine, nursing, and allied health sciences. For 125 years, the university has maintained a forward-thinking spirit serving its students, its patients, and the people of Texas.

UTMB’s Division of Pediatric Neurology - UTMB Children’s Hospital currently has 24 pediatric beds, 4 PICU beds, and 42 Level 4 NICU beds. We have over 15 pediatric subspecialties in the department and coordinate closely between specialties. Pediatric neurology currently performs procedures including routine and ambulatory EEG and chemodenervation/nerve blocks, with the opportunity to support additional procedures should any new faculty wish to expand our services.

Patient care responsibilities include an active outpatient clinic as well as the opportunity to participate in inpatient care of patients with neurologic conditions. Our outpatient clinic services focus primarily on general neurologic diseases including epilepsy, migraine, neurogenetic disease, and pediatric movement disorders. We have a broad spectrum of patients with a full range of childhood neurologic complaints. There is also a focus on the education of medical students and residents, including full-time presence of learners in clinic and the opportunity for didactic teaching.

Faculty Pediatric Neurologist - This position offers excellent opportunities for patient care, teaching, and program development. There is ample opportunity for growth due to our newly expanded Children’s Hospital Unit which opened in late 2020. This expansion doubled our inpatient capacity and offers a dynamic opportunity for faculty career growth and development.  Selected candidates must be board certified or board eligible in both Pediatrics and Neurology, and they must also be able to obtain a valid Texas state medical license.

Income Package:  A competitive base salary is offered and is based on Academic rank / experience coupled with an obtainable RVU bonus program. Additional benefits include a relocation allowance, a superior family benefits program and an unsurpassed retirement program.
