The Charles H. Kaman Neuromuscular Center at Hospital for Special care has an immediate full-time position for a neurologist with fellowship training in neuromuscular medicine and EMG.

The Neuromuscular Center is certified as a Center of Excellence by the Muscular Dystrophy Association, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Association, Charcot-Marie-Tooth Association and Hereditary Neuropathy Foundation. Annually, the Center cares for over 275 patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, and over 600 patients with other neuromuscular disorders including muscular dystrophies, inclusion body myositis, spinal muscular atrophies, CMT disorders, myasthenia gravis, and chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathies. The Center has a dedicated Neuromuscular Research and Clinical Trials program and is one of 54 national sites partnering with Massachusetts General Hospital on the Healey ALS Clinical Trials Program. The new physician will join two experienced neuromuscular specialist and a team of healthcare staff – all providing multidisciplinary care to patients from Connecticut and adjoining other states in the northeast region.

The successful candidate will be board certified or eligible in Neurology and Neuromuscular Medicine, highly motivated in the areas of clinical neuromuscular medicine and clinical trials, competent in performing both routine and complex EMG studies, willing to part of a large neuromuscular multidisciplinary team, and willing to provide teaching and educational conferences to medical students, neurology residents, and neuromuscular fellows from the University of Connecticut School of Medicine.
