Job Details

Children’s Healthcare of Orange County (CHOC) Children’s seeks a nationally recognized pediatric neurologist to serve as Division Chief of Pediatric Neurology and Co-Medical Director for CHOC Children’s Neuroscience Institute.

CHOC Children’s is an extensive regional pediatric healthcare network, affiliated with University of California, Irvine, and includes a state-of-the-art 334-bed main hospital facility in the City of Orange, and a hospital-within-a-hospital in Mission Viejo. CHOC Children’s leadership and steadfast commitment to defining the future of pediatric medicine has led to national recognition as one of the Best Children’s Hospitals in six categories, including neurology and neurosurgery, by US News & World Report. In addition to their multiple primary and specialty care clinics, CHOC Children’s includes four centers of excellence and a Research Institute.

CHOC Children’s Neuroscience Institute is one of the leading pediatric programs in the nation, providing comprehensive evaluation, treatment and surgical care for infants to teens with disorders of the brain, spine, muscles and central and peripheral nervous systems. The Neuroscience Institute has six Centers of Excellence and nine Programs, each with exceptional physician leadership. CHOC Children’s was the first children’s hospital in California — and the only one in Orange County — to be named a Level 4 epilepsy center by NEAC and continues to serve as a national leader in pediatric epilepsy care. Poised for continued growth, CHOC Children’s Neuroscience Institute is committed to providing excellence in coordinated care for a seamless experience, innovative programs and specialized treatments and pediatric expertise, equipment and facilities.

The Division Chief and Co-Medical Director of CHOC Children’s Neuroscience Institute is part of a dynamic leadership team committed to the growth, expansion, and success of CHOC Children’s as a nationally recognized premier destination for pediatric medical care, research, and medical education. The Division Chief and Co-Medical Director will further the clinical, teaching and research missions and provide administrative and financial leadership for the Division and Neuroscience Institute. As an accomplished physician and clinical leader, the Division Chief and Co-Medical Director will build the neurology expertise of the hospital and care delivery network, develop and enhance patient care programs and resources, and expand research activities across the clinical enterprise. The Division Chief and Co-Medical Director will attract high performing physicians, establish high quality, evidence-based practices, enhance residency and education programs and research portfolios, and further develop referral relationships throughout the region.

This opportunity is best suited for an individual who is passionate about advancing optimal outcomes; patient, employee and physician satisfaction; and quality and safety. Successful candidates will be nationally recognized pediatric neurologists with an excellent track record in pediatric patient care, education and research. Candidates will have significant leadership experience within a leading pediatric organization and demonstrate the ability to build clinical, research and education programs and align constituencies. Current Board certification in pediatric neurology and the ability to obtain an unrestricted California medical license are required.
